I would like the grill on my GS to be black. I can't tell if it's plastic or aluminum. Anyway, what's the best way to do this? Even if it's aluminum, I'd wonder if the heat of powder coating would ruin the delicate webs.

Epoxy paint? Candle soot?

Wouldn't you know. My grill was black and I wanted it chrome. I went thru several ideas before finally settling on silver paint. It worked super and now after almost a year the paint still looks new. So that's my recommendation - get yourself some good grade black spray paint, pry the grill housing out, remove the grill and paint it.
