Well I just had a customer Jack Wilson (Shortstop for the Pirates) let me have his QP for long enough to do the research to do the sound system the right way. We were able to take the stock radio's RGB output and run it into an aftermarket Alpine screen, So now if needed he can hit the bottom left button of the touchscreen and flip back and four between the Maserati screen, and the Alpine screen (if he needs to change any settings) Other than that It an alpine V-hub system with the added convenience of the alpine touchscreen, also added was a rear screen with buit in DVD for the Kids, and some major Wattage from JL amps and speakers, enjoy!

I say...(stuey voice) you two team up, pimp yourselves out to the rest of us for your services. I'd be willing to pay 5-7k to have one of you guys fly out and help install this with me.
OK, I love stuey but that's chump change..... God I hate being such a chump :D

name your price my man, name your price.. but for goodness sake, it can't be more than the value of the car :D
Absolutely stunning work!!!

Do you know somebody in Europe who can do the same ?
Duke it out, no way man, I got respect for anyone who can do this kind of work, I've never worked on the coupe, I was just making guesses based on pics, Awsome work and thanks for the info, I have a contact at nav TV that could build that RGB converter and a touch screen could be added to the coupe, But its all about the $
I still think you two should fight :)

Instigator!
If anyone gets an interface setup for the coupe and can get them produced I can handle distirbution, I purchased a mobile audio distributor about a year ago.

Or if someone can post up some wiring diagarams (and molex plug part numbers) I will see what i can do with my connecitons on getting a plug and play harness done up to jumper past the NIT with a flying lead hookup

Yet another integrated iPOD job

Great Jobs by Buzz and Steve!

I put a similar system in my 05 QP in the summer of 2005. It has worked well for nearly three years. One big problem for me however, and I assume the other two systems, featured in this thread is that you can only increment click at a time. So if you have 100 playlists then you may have to click 50 times to reach the one you want. Worse, is that if you have 6000 songs and you want to search to a specific song, say starting with M, you may have to click 3000 times! The rather kludgey fix for this was to extend the iPOD cable so that I can just reach and unplug the iPOD then use the iPOD controls to make a selection then plug it back it. Works fine, although not perfect - anybody know a more elegant fix for this; Buzz? Steve?

I also have a Sirius satellite radio integrated into this system as well.

I also mounted a Valentine V1 up at the rear view mirror to switched power - and that has worked out just fine.

Touch screen

Steve, I must be dense! Does the QP radio stay in the dash? Where is the Alpine touch screen? How can those of us no where near your shop get info and / or needed hardware to make the mods? BTW, fantastic job. I can't even get an iPod connected to my QP Blaupunkt

The radio is still in the dash I took the LCD out of the stock radio and replaced it with the Alpine LCD touchscreen. The radio is all there still since the car needs to see it in the CANBUS loop. But the only thing the stock radio gets used for is to change any setting in the info setup, E-mail me any questions you have about how to do the mod if your gonna attempt it

The GT is a completely different animal and I have NO experience here...... I thought Maserati might have actually upgraded their sound systems by now...... Weird. I know I am the first on THIS board to integrate Alpine into the stock display...... Any challengers? ;)
Buzz, I did my system first but you absolutely get the trophy! You figured it out, engineered the thing and did it on your own - the only thing I engineered was writing a check to an installer.

Steve, does the Alpine Touch screen handle the A/C controls and other functions okay? If so you have the hot set up there because it solves the "one click" per song problem created by Alpine Hub without a touch screen.

Oops... Actually, I meant the NIT based screen since the coupe/spyder unit is so freakin' weird. You have an AWESOME setup. Kudos!

Oh by the way, The new Vehicle Hub PRO (VPA-B222 came out in 2006) allows playlist, song, artist and album searches via the Orb.

Buzz, how do you move from, say, song to song: one click at a time or in some more advanced way?

Go to alpine-usa.com. Find the Vehicle Hub Pro and on the upper right is a link to the manual. The iPod has an entire section dedicated to it. It now does a LOT! Sorry I don't have it right here and I'm a creature of habit; if I was in the car I could show you :D
you all have done a wonderful job at interfacing htese units in your cars.it looks real good. i also have been doing this on these cars for many years. in fact ever since the first hub was released i have used them in these cars,qp and coupes. i offer all of this to my local maserati dealer and they keep me busy with these big jobs. as im not sure that i can speak much on details as the boss and i are always looking for the next thing you guys want in your maserati's. another thing i have been offering is a oem style phone kit that works right off your existing wheel controls like oem, among other things.
im in n.j. if any locals need oem intergration on anything from a fxx to a smart car.we do it all.
but i must say i like how you some of you have done such a sweet job on doing the job the right way the first time. as i thought we may have been the only ones doing this for so many years[20+].we also work very close with navtv and other oem intrafacing company's to stay ahead of the learning curve.our rgb kits for the qp and the coupe mentioned above took us awhile to produce but now they exist. ill have to let my boss speak any more on exact details but i can fill in any questions on product fitment.
p.s. i dont think the alpine vhub is gonna be around any longer to do these mods, but theres a new kid on the block that might be just as good. all you ces goers know which i mean. pm me for anything else.
and once again, nice job on the installs guys,i love a clean proper install.thumbs up.:D

Steve,
Nice job but I don't think this is the only one in the world. It might be the only one in Simi Valley.
these installs look awesom

I have a new qp with 5 disc changer and built in phone. I really want sirius installed and back seat dvd. I hate the nav system but could live without upgrade- ipod integration would also be. DIdn't know what these upgrades would cost or who could do it on the east coast (north carolina) any ideas? great work guys
It's been 4 years, but are the original owners who performed this mod still around? I would very much like to find out how the "reverse RGB" signal was hooked up to the Alpine LCD please.
That Alpine unit is way outdated. It interfaces the car through the NAV-TV MASVIM kit. Thia gives you audio video input through the TV button. Hmm that line sounds familiar.
I thought that Alpine unit provided its LCD screen and somehow the signals from the NIT was sent to that LCD screen instead of the factory LCD screen. Whereas the NAVTV kit retained the factory screen and allowed 3rd party AV signals to go through to the factory LCD?

Has there been any new developments in this arena since then?
