Well I just had a customer Jack Wilson (Shortstop for the Pirates) let me have his QP for long enough to do the research to do the sound system the right way. We were able to take the stock radio's RGB output and run it into an aftermarket Alpine screen, So now if needed he can hit the bottom left button of the touchscreen and flip back and four between the Maserati screen, and the Alpine screen (if he needs to change any settings) Other than that It an alpine V-hub system with the added convenience of the alpine touchscreen, also added was a rear screen with buit in DVD for the Kids, and some major Wattage from JL amps and speakers, enjoy!

Like that but different, Instead of putting audio and video into the stock unit, I'm coming out of the stock unit and into the aftermarket. that way you get the best sound quality cause your not using the crap output of the stock unit your using the clean high level outputs from the alpine unit. As for pitching him on doing the install, He's been a customer for a while so he was pretty willing to hand us the car for a while. And as for making it happen give us a call heres a link to our myspace, Theres contact info there.

My car has the stock unit (called a NIT) in the armrest and the Vehicle Hub Pro tucked away in the trunk. Everything is controlled from the VHPro via the "orb". I switch between factory video or VHPro video but all audio is through VHPro + amps. I currently have access to my iPod, Sirius and HD radio via the Ainet connector. I switch to stock Maserati nav for now but will put an Ainet Alpine NAV in soon. How is this much different?

Difference on your car would be that that stock radio would be hidden away, and you could have the New Alpine double din custom Mounted In the dash.

Then If you needed to go into your info setup you can flip a switch and display the cars info, On the QP there is not room behind the radio screen opening so I used the alpines touchscreen and it controls the V-hub as well as the orb.

OK, I got it. Mine is the stock display as there is no DIN radio in the Coupe/spyder. The radio is a big chassis cramed under the center armrest. A cable runs up the console to the display unit. I did all the reverse engineering myself including decoding the full duplex serial communication between the head and the NIT. Might come in handy some day for intercepting the dash controls. The video is .7V RGB and a 1V CSYNC. Alpine puts out .7V RGB and TTL CSYNC. In order for me to be able to switch between video sources I had to convert CSYNC in each direction... Not a big deal. A touch screen would be sweet but I'm VERY happy with my integration.

Some more pics.....

What would something like this cost approximately?.
I have a Gran Turismo on the way in a couple of weeks. It has the supposedly upgraded Bose surround system ( I am sceptical on how good that would sound). Would you have any suggestion on adding satellite radio and an ipod input?
Thanks

I say...(stuey voice) you two team up, pimp yourselves out to the rest of us for your services. I'd be willing to pay 5-7k to have one of you guys fly out and help install this with me.

The GT is a completely different animal and I have NO experience here...... I thought Maserati might have actually upgraded their sound systems by now...... Weird. I know I am the first on THIS board to integrate Alpine into the stock display...... Any challengers? ;)
