Just bought an '06 Gran Sport Spyder.

Two questions:

The clutch was recently replaced by the previous owner and it only has 18k miles. Why does it need to be replaced so soon?

Ive never owned a car with paddle shifting. What is the proper way to shift in manual / sport mode? Eg when to step on gas, release.

Thanks. Great to be here.

2006 gran sport

I myself am puuzzled at the clutch life on this forum we have 30k and 50% wear on our QP and my wife who doesn't really know how to drive stick put a lot of miles on it. So don't worry about it, and drive, when its time just replace it? You may get 40-50k miles on it a lot of people do and also add the DBW which should help.

Welcome. There are many owners in Singapore. I'm sure they will be happy to give you an in-person demonstration of paddle use.

Welcome to the community!

Answer to the first question: It's just the way it is.

Answer to the second question: Just try it out. You won't break it. Step on gas when you want to go. No need to let off when shifting. Computer takes care of it all.

Congrats on your GranSport Spyder and welcome to MaseratiLife!

18K is a pretty fair / average life for the clutch on the GS in stock form. Have a look around on the forum and I'm sure you'll find lots of information about clutch life, repair costs and the FD DBW (Drive By Wire Enhancement Module)

Best Regards,
