Hey everyone, I never really posted but I've been lurking for a while. I wanted a maserati spyder for a few years now. I've finally decided to sell my MB CL600 and get a 2002-2003 spyder. I figured if I'm paying crazy maintenance costs it should at least be an Italian car with soul.

I had a question about skyhook. It appears to me that the skyhook cars are a bit higher(especially in the rear) than the regular suspension. Is this true? It might be weird angles. Can someone confirm this?

Also, does anyone have pics of a coupe or spyder that has been lowered? My only thing about the looks of these beauties are the height, there is a tad too much fender gap.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

I had an 02 coupe that was lowered by the dealer. I'm afraid I no longer have a picture, but I thought it looked very good. Didn't cost much either. Had a stance more like the Gransport, which would give you a good idea of how it looked.
For what it's worth, look at an 04 or 05. Not much more than 02's, and potentially much more warranty protection.

thanks for the reply guys. I definitely prefer an 05, I like the little changes lookswise..but I'm actually selling my CL to put some of the money in real estate and the rest as a down payment on another "toy". The 02's are very attractive in terms of price, I've seen some in the low 40s even 39K. I think theres so much bang for my buck there. It also gives me a chance to feel out a maser too..If I fall in love with it, I'll get a gransport in 1-2 years.

Thanks for the reply guys, keep em coming.

Dan,

The spyders are a bit of a conundrum. 02 has the harder shifting gearbox that a lot of us prefer, but in the middle of 03 they softened it up, while also stiffening the frame. The more rigid frame reduces cowl shake that was pretty heavy in the 02s. The 02s aren't bad cars by any means, and certainly its a car thats easy to upgrade from and the deprecation should be leveled out.

These cars come pretty keenly tuned out of the factory. Any lowering will change suspension geometry and affect handling. My dealer lowered his GS and then had to go with a higher rate/stiffer set of springs to correct the handling which in turn, made the car unbearable in daily driving.

If looks are your only concern or you can live with the required suspension changes, then I suppose you could consider it.

You can take a look at pictures of our lowering springs online at : http://www.formuladynamics.com/street-track.php . We've done quite a few of these now and a few members have had some great things to say about the kit if you research it on this forum.

So far we've only had one customer who's complained that the ride was too stiff for daily driving. Even he commented however that the handling and looks were a significant improvement.
