Hey, new to the forum, thought some of you all might be able to help. I have an 06 QP about 24k miles. I left it alone not driven for about 2 months, before that I had someone take it out about once a week. After 2 months of no driving, put the key in battery is dead?

Is my only option to buy a new battery? And if so, is there a better way to go about it besides bringing it to the dealership?

Any help is appretiated, ty.

Welcome, It's a hard way to learn it but these cars never sleep. My (new to me) 07 QP has a very new looking Interstate battery. Search batteries here and you will find options to the dealership solution.

Just because the battery is currently dead, does not mean it is shot. These cars have alot of systems that are constantly drawing power from the battery and if the car is not run for extended periods of times it will eventually drain the battery. As long as the battery hasn't been frozen it should simply need a slow trickle charge, over say 24 hrs, and you should be good to go. I would give this a try before going through the hassle and the expensive of buying a new battery.

Yea thanks for the info. I thought the batteries did die on these cars at a generally early time, thought mine was just earlier. I'll try the charge, and if its dead, i'll search around for a good battery, let you guys know.

Just changed to an optima battery, it was honestly a long time coming, but it was scary because the night before, the car started and ran fine. The next morning, it was very weak on two starts, then was completely dead the third. If the battery is truly dead, then it just wont hold a charge, and these cars use so much electricity, even when parked.

You can attach it to a battery tender and let it charge for a day or so to see if it'll hold a charge. You can use either a Maserati branded one (about $130) or a C-Tek (which makes the Maserati one) (about $80).

Otherwise, if it's the original battery, it's about time to change it out. 4 years is about average for what you'll normally get from a stock battery.
