I don't think so. If I remember the statements of my dealer it was clear from the beginning that Maserati will bring a Spider, that was actually always communicated.
Like you, BlackMasi, I think Maserati told clearly from the start that a convertible would follow, as would electrified versions of the MC20, and also a racing version.

Yeah, but given how long Maserati traditionally takes to bring out new models, nobody was holding their breath. (Seeing how the coupe's been delayed and is only now starting to come out, I won't be surprised if the spyder version doesn't show up until late 2023 or even 2024).

Look at the poor Alfieri. It was announced like 10 years, then cancelled, then revived, then cancelled....Lol.

I think you should be stay fair. The Alfieri was always presented as a prototype. With the MC20, we're talking about an available car and a from the beginning bindingly communicated road map.

For example take the new Granturismo, there is speculation in the media but my dealer has always made me aware that the launch will be delayed. That's why I bought one of the last produced Granturismo in 2018 (as my second Granturismo). Knowing that it will be a very long time until the successor appears. If I talk to the dealer, I have a pretty good planning capability as far as Maserati product development is concerned. If I rely on the media, then it becomes imprecise.

Don't know why it took Maserati so long to release the spyder version.

I'd bet some people who already put deposits on the coupe might be a bit pissed.
the work values of European people is completely different from us in the US. They dont like to work weekends or overtime and it is totally normal for companies to shut down for weeks at a time for holidays. They dont have a clue what supply/demand means. products that are in demand currently should take priority as what is hot today wont be hot forever. they use the excuse of parts shortages for delays if that is the case how did they come up with parts to make 200 grecale that popped up a few weeks back? I am starting to reconsider this car due to how crappy communication and service is for the brands under stellantis ownership. one of the cars I currently own is a alfa romeo stelvio quadrifogli. it has to be one of the most amazing suv's out there and I love it but the thing is in the shop every other month for the same issues and each time the dealer has to fight with alfa to cover the parts needed under warranty. also from what I have heard from lambo and ferrari customers whom have ordered cars regular delays of delivery is normal. from what I have been told alot of those guys had to pay for the whole car upfront when placing the order and waiting 12 to 18 months is very normal on top of that some of those cars once they take delivery of those cars they either can't sell the car for a certain period of time or have to give the manufacturer the option to buy the car back.

Just flip it when you get it... Easy money.

PS, live work balance is real. Sadly most Americans don't understand this. You only get one life. Then you die. Live life fully then die. You don't know how much time you get!

Evo magazine likes it too...: Maserati MC20 2022 review – is this a Ferrari killer? | Evo
... even down to its sound: "Any notion that the MC20 is going to be as smoothly rounded as a pebble on a beach are shattered when the V6 fires into life. It’s not a typically anodyne V6 burr, but deep chested, snarly and only just on the right side of raucous. Initially, that seems at odds with the rest of the car, because the MC20 is outstandingly comfortable and refined."...

Hmm.. someone at Evo got bribed to write that .. yes, maybe great sound for a V6 ( by comparison to what’s out there in six cyl turbo cars to date ) but “ deep chested, snarly and just on the side of raucous “ ?!
I’ll believe that when I hear it. :sneaky:

Dane, who got his MC20 last month, said it sounded more like a Porsche 911 Turbo S which is anything but "deep chested" or raucous.

Let’s hope so! Seems of anything that Maserati has done in the last 15 years, the MC20 screams “race me please!” It would be great to see it raced, and it seems they are taking steps forward 😎

Old post but I just read the article re Novitec’s power boost upgrade :

“ Novitec increases the output by 80 hp (60 kW) and 64 lb-ft (88 Nm), bringing the total to 711 hp (523 kW) and 603 lb-ft (818 Nm). The extra oomph cuts 0.1 seconds off its 0-62 time, dropping it to 2.8 seconds. The supercar’s top speed also increases from 201 mph (323 kph) to more than 202 mph (325 kph). “

Seriously ?! Even if all you do is race the car competitively, getting that extra 0.1 sec. off the line ( which can easily be offset by a non-professional driver ) and the ( laughable ) 1 more mph at the top speed is hardly worth the expense, IMO . Why bother ? Bragging rights that you have 711 hp..which make almost no difference ..? 😕
