I like this one too... Reminds me of the old Jag XJ220 a Bugatti and Maserati all wrapped together

....and BTW: the MC20 is not the successor of the Gran Turismo. That will be another car, which will probably/hopefully be presented early next year.

The successor of the GT is already out there, it just has a weird badge of a prancing horse and is called Roma. I just do not understand FCA, where the ferrari crowd is complaining about the multitude of different models hitting the market multiple times a year, Maserati and Alfa take decades to produce a new model, and when they come out mainly the entertainment systems and driving aids are already obsolete compared to the (german) competition!

You are certainly right that the Roma seems to owe a lot to the Alfieri....
The FCA group has probably just been doing what makes sense in the short term; produce and market the products that obtain the highest margins. Unfortunately, that has made the longer-term strategy for marques such as Maserati seem hesitant at best, mostly inconsistent, and virtually non-existent at worst.
