I know that the GranTurismo isn't a race cars, as it name says, it's a "Gran Turismo", a fast, comfortable and luxurious cruiser, but has anyone tried out weight reduction on these GT?

It's a big steel car, unlike the others like Lotus fiberglass or Aston aluminum, not much you can do with a big steel car with all that luxury.

You can try the MC wheels which are supposed to be 22 pounds lighter each which has the benefit of reducing unsprung weight.

22lbs each?? I could understand 5.5lbs each.

There are places to save weight such as a Quality Stainless Steel Exhaust System, lighter wheels and even our FD Lightweight Big Brake Kit saves 22lbs of rotating weight (which is worth approximately 3.5x as much as static weight). These items are all on our website. You can remove and replace some steel underneath the car but it's hard to save a lot of weight because there isn't say any 1 big item that is just weight the whole car down. It's just a bit heavier here and there throughout the vehicle. With that said, weight savings does start to add up and we've seen customers shave a few hundred pounds getting pretty aggressive to replace steel brackets with lighter versions, removing seats and other items, wheels, brakes, exhaust, etc. As you said, it's no race car but sure there is savings to be had.

Best Regards,

Very true . Even 4 x as much. Although that’s more so a factor in the 0-60 mph space than it is at higher speeds where once you get going it won’t make that much of a difference. However, weight savings will also offer some advantage in turns / cornering.
All that aside , I don’t think there’s any reason to go overboard and attempt to turn this car into something it isn’t, and can never be.. IMO the luxury of a comfortable and fast enough touring car is a great part of its appeal, and whilst shedding a couple of lbs. here and there to get a bit more spirited driving in turns and whatnot is fine...just as long as it does not compromise and sacrifice the overall luxury and character of the car .

Nothing is light anymore. Even my Evora is still over 3000lbs and I have removed over 100lbs.

If you're going to spend money for performance, go with unsprung weight first. The rest are cosmetic.

How much difference are you going to make on a 4,200 pound car anyway with a few pounds here and there.

Go on a diet, lose 10 pounds, that'll be cheaper and better than anything you do on the car, and you'll feel better too.

My Elise was down to ~1930 lbs

Weight loss depends on three factors: nutrition, movement and metabolism. If everything is clear with the first two, then everything is a little more complicated with the metabolism. From nature, it is different for all people. For example, if the metabolism is very fast, then people suffer from the fact that they can not gain weight. They are naturally thin and no matter how much they eat, it is extremely difficult for them to gain weight. If your metabolism is too slow, then excess weight will be a burden for you. But with the help of sports and proper nutrition (which must be established by a specialist), it is possible to artificially increase or decrease the metabolic rate. I advise people who are trying to lose weight to start moving more, contact a nutritionist so that he prescribes a nutrition course and buy a kitchen scale like these Amazon.com: Vont 'Milo' Kitchen Scale, Food Scale, Digital Scale w. Beautiful LCD Screen, 5 Measurement Units, Gram Scale Used for Weight Loss, Baking, Cooking, 304 Food Grade Stainless Steel (Batteries Included) : Home & Kitchen to monitor the amount of food consumed. Hard work and patience is what you need.

It depends on how tall you are. If you're over 6ft, 200lbs isn't bad.

BMI is much more important. If it's over 25, you're obese.
