That would make the check engine light come on unless you sneaked around it with spacers etc...The car would also become very loud and also smell bad...Not a fan of removing the cats on a modern car..Jason

I am going with Formula Dynamics Sport Cats. Unless you like it extremely loud, the drone on long drives would be insane.

Don't remove the cat. Straight pipe the resonator. That's the suggestion from a local shop. I didn't do it. It's loud enough.

In some states with very restrictive , low threshold emissions controls, once the cars start being subject to smog checks ( I think pre-2012 now fall in that category, but not sure.. ) you’ll never pass the test. So forget cat delete, and actually any replacement cats may not work either , I’m pretty sure only OE cats will pass the emissions tests, in those states. And if you happen to live in the draconian state of Kaliforniastan ( yes, I live here ) a complete cat delete, in addition to the smog test thing , can get you in serious trouble with the law ; hefty fines , drivers license suspensions , and a host of other headaches if you’re discovered to have done that. Needless to say not a single shop in this state will do that for you .

+1 on skipping the Cat Delete. The sound isn't as nice with a Cat Delete, the smell is awful and you will 100% set a check engine light going this route.

In comparison, the Larini Sport Cats flow within 1% of a straight pipe these days with the newest Cat Technology, so performance is right there with a straight pipe anyway, the sound is amazing, no check engine light, there is no smell and you're running a cleaner car than you would be with a cat delete. You'll just be getting more of the benefits you want in terms of performance and sound, so It's a pretty good way to move forward.

Have a quick listen to some sounds from the GT 4.7L Stock, then with Larini Sport Cats, then with Sport Cats and an X-Pipe, it's amazing and you can still quiet it down at any time with the Sport Mode Button :
