Lowered GT - real world experience?

We know you're looking for owner comments here but just going to chime in and let you know that we do build all of our current kits to be driveable and manageable in typical street driving. We do offer custom kits as well that can be lowered further but our standard kit ride heights should be fine for normal street use. We have tested them extensively, even made small changes over the years and are not getting complaints from owners for this reason.

Of course, there is always some adaption to your driving after lowering, as you learn to navigate at the new ride height, this is typically just taking driveways and curbs at a bit of an angle and perhaps a bit slower.

We also always lower the Rear on the GT a bit more than the Front.. we do this is for 2 reasons. One is simply that the Rear is very high on the GT as it comes from the factory. Another is that when you drop the Rear a bit more than the Front, the nose of the car actually tips up a bit which helps you to get back some of the height you would otherwise lose at the nose when lowering. This helps improve day to day driving clearances.

Another point is that we are the only company in the market that is building true Sport Spring kits designed for each of the different GT models. We get calls now and then from owners that have used one of the basic kits in the market and find that their Front to Rear Balance is off after installing these kits because other companies only provide a one size fits all spring kit for the GT even though the GT has several different versions of it's suspension and while the kit sets the correct ride height for some GT versions, others will wind up at an awkward ride height that is a real compromise in looks or performance. The biggest problem is that once installed, it's a very difficult decision for owners to remove the kit and start over. Note that this is especially true with the GT Convertible and GranCabrio models as these one size fits all kits are typically very far off from desired ride heights for these models. So especially if you a GT Convertible / GranCabrio, please have a good look at the Formula Dynamics Sport Spring Lowering Kit to get the best results.

Another final option is that while we can achieve great results with our Sport Spring kit alone, the best option for overall performance, comfort and to set the perfect ride height is our Fully Adjustable Sport Coilovers. They do cost more but also offer the most flexibility and are designed as a ground up solution to lower the car, improve performance and comfort.

Hope that helps and please let us know if we can provide any help, we specialize in Maserati and have lots of experience to help you get the best results!

Best Regards,

Thanks for the post @rzundel, glad you are still enjoying those springs!
@Boatshoes84 - You're correct the Skyhook Suspension will work the same as always, except it will just be a Sportier ride in both Normal and Sport Modes. It just takes the performance up a notch and allows you to safely lower the GT!

As always, feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email with any questions as well. We're here to help you get the most from your Maserati!

As we mentioned tipping up the front by lowering the rear a bit more really does help with our kit. The amount you drop in the front with our kit is only about 3/4" on a GT-S // GT-MC and by lowering the rear more, you gain a lot of that back. As a result, we really aren't getting complaints and have driven around in many shop GT's over the years with our Sport Lowering Springs without problems. So yes, you're lowering the car but it's not nearly as bad as some may imagine.

As to the warranty, we can say that we haven't heard of any warranty issues with the sport springs for any of our customers. In fact we've had several dealers install the kit on their clients cars, so I believe this is less of a concern for them.
