Hi Everyone,

I have a 2008 Gran Turismo which I recently retrofitted with the GTS exchaust and it is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! It sounds like a Lambo with Tubi now....but I am wondering if anyone tried installing any aftermarket X-pipes in this forum? From Larini maybe....? Let me know

Cheers/Jericho:cool:

I have a 2008 GT too and was thinking about going aftermarket with a tubi. I was told that tubi actually make the GTS Exhaust but i dont know if it is true.

Do you have a Video/Audio File you can post of the new exhaust? Also if you don't mind me asking how much was the new exhaust?

Larini Exhaust for GranTurismo

Jericho, we're the importer of Larini Systems for North America. We have the X-Pipe in stock and can tell you that it's going to sound amazing. You'll hear more of those high pitched Ferrari Sounds coming through. You'll save about 20 lbs and pickup 8-10 hp with this setup as well.

Feel free to give me a call to discuss.

Best Regards,

Jeff, you are right. I am really thinking of ordering the X Pipes which you are selling but not sure if it will make the exhaust note too loud? As it is, with the GTS exhaust, I literally have to idle my car without stepping on the accelerator once I turn to my street to avoid waking the neighbours at night....not unlike a thief creeping into his own house!

You can order the GTS exhaust via your official importer as the part numbers for both the RHD and LHD GTS exhaust rear silencers are available. I was told that I had to wait for the part number when the RHD version goes into production in Italy so I guess maybe the part numbers are different depending on whether it is RHD or LHD in your country.

I paid about US$6,000 for parts + installation by the local importer....yes, cars and parts are not cheap in Singapore!

The only diffrence is that the GT, unlike the GTS, cannot close the valve in the exhaust silencer by engaging/ disengaging the Sport button, so the valves have to be left permanently open (read permanently loud)...but i'm not complaining...;)

Deltona, I was told by my importer that the GTS exhaust is not made by Tubi, its from another italian OEM manufacturer it seems...but he did not tell me by whom...

From the reviews I read, the GTS exhaust sounds a lot better than the Tubi model and I can now personally vouch for it as well..

Hi Bigfoot,

I called my local dealer service manager today and he said the GTS exhaust is manufactured for Maserati by an Italian company called ANSA who specialises in exhaust manufacture....does it make sense?....Some GT cars have retrofitted with Tubi exhaust locally which is a quad pipe version, same as the original GT exhaust unlike the dual pipe GTS exhaust....so I think it is very unlikely that Tubi will manufacture 2 different exhaust designs for the same car...just my 2 cents worth...

Cheers

I called Scuderia Systems in the UK who are the UK distibutor for Tubi. They told me the GTS factory exhaust IS made by Tubi. I have no reason not to believe them unless it is a crafty
sales pitch?

I have a 2007 Maserati QP Duoselect. Three months ago I bought and installed the Larini X-Pipe ... the car sounds fantastic when warming up in the morning and thereafter if you accelerate the sound is richer, and deeper ... heads realy turn ... and the fact that the car has the origial tails, it's hard for people other than the dealer to know that the car has anything other then OEM.

I have tought of buying the Larini tails, but I find them way too expensive for the difference ... I am sure your GTS will benefit from the X pipe ... its only under $1,000 ... you wont regret it. Tino

Spoke to my local dealer last week and he advised me against getting a Larini X Pipe or anything else for that matter since I have already installed the GTS exhaust on my GT....apparently, he done this for somone who installed a X pipe after upgrading to tubi on his gransport and it was just so F******** LOUD that he came back the next day to take off his X-pipe again...

Also, he said that an X-Pipe will suffer from some slight lag at start when pulling away from traffic lights until you hit about 3k rpm before it speeds up a lot faster...Jeff, if you are listening, please advise your input...

Cheers

Jericho,

The comment your dealer made about lag is simply not true. Our car also runs this product and I've installed the X-Pipe on many cars, there is no introduced lag.

I also do not think you'll have a problem with volume as you'll still have factory, street approved mufflers ( even though they are GT-S ).

The problems that some people have with the volume being too loud is that they have the full performance mufflers and the x-pipe and often also deteriorated catalytic converters. This combination can be a bit loud. Many customers think it's just right, a few will always think it's too loud.

My experience is that we've never heard a complaint on the X-pipe with a factory street approved muffler. This includes the 4200, GranSport, QP and the Gran Turismo.

Your dealer has one experience to share. Further, the customer may have had another mod such as a de-cat or deteriorated cats, if there is any truth to the story.

Best Regards,
-- Jeff
