I have a 2012 GT and the last few days I've had a problem with key stuck in ignition. I did see all the previous posts about this, so I was able to get the key out. All of the posts seem to reference a bad battery. I have not noticed a weak battery. My car starts without a problem. Do you think this issue can be blamed on a weak battery??

Thanks

it could be battery in some cases... but not all. I had issue in my 2010 .. but swapped it out for the one form my 2017 & it still wouldn't come out like normal. Always had to press the button behind the key to extract it.
Possibly some other issue, but sold the 2010 before it was fixed so I dunno.

Today I replaced the old battery with a brand new interstate battery from Costco. The key still won't come out of the ignition when I turn the car off. My car has a new battery, what could cause this problem??

Any help would be much appreciated.

I imagine the "P" is lighting up on the shifter? The car needs to be firmly in park to get the solenoid to release the key...Next thing to do would be to scan the car for faults and look at the TCM data etc...Jason
