The info and people on this board are great. Thanks for all the advice and info!!

I just bought a white 04 Cambio Coupe with a Tubi that had 1,295 miles on it. My wife and I flew out to Chicago and drove it back to NJ.... What a ride... I can honestly say it blew away all of my expectations...

The car purrs..... The ride is incredible and the interior is plush. I could not believe the great gas mileage we got....

I had a BMW and two new CLK 430s prior to buying this.... I am done... I love driving this car... Its so much fun. I plan on putting some serious miles on this ride.

I tried to post some pictures but I can't seem to get the size right.

My biggest problem now that its inspected and regestered in NJ, is how to hang a front license plate without drilling into the bumper.... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

chris7469 my father has a Spyder Cambio in NJ w no front plate. He has had it for 4 months now with no problems. I have a 330Ci and am a much more aggressive driver and have never been pulled over for having no front plate in NJ. If you want you can always put it up on your dash and tell the officer your waiting for the front plate mount. Congrats on your purchase I hope you and your wife enjoy it for many years!

Will Try to keep the plate off

I bought the car from D & M Motor Sports in Chicago. Not that is matters, but the guitar player from Aerosmith traded it in on a Lambo. It had 1,295 mile when I bought it on Saturday. It has 2,300 as of today.

I just love driving it. I will use any excuse to go for a spin.

I am going to leave the front plate off and keep the plate upfront. Unless the cops really start bothering me I should be ok. Hoever, I do plan on driving this car 8-10K each year.

Thanks. CM

Hi Chris,

Congratulations on the purchase.
I saw that car become available right as I was buying my '04 gray Coupe from Continental Autosports in IL (I'm in FL).
Looked like a great car and buy.
Too bad Maserati doesn't do a better job of promoting these cars in the US.
It's one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever driven.

Regards,
Sean

Here in El Salvador we are also supposed to have a front license plate on but I carry mine in my trunk... I've been stopped twice for that matter and in both times police have understood  and I've gotten off without a ticket.

Both times they did asked me to show the other plate, I guess they wanted to make sure that the second license plate was not riding on the back of another car and giving the same story, once I showed it to them they were more interested in seeing the car than anything else... they even asked me to open the engine compartment for them, they asked their questions and let me go unharmed after 15 minutes of uuuhhs, aaahhs and wows... amazing !!!

I drive my alfa romeo spider in NJ with the front licence plate behind the front windscreen on the dash. No probs.

The grocery getter/kiddie hauler/snowmobile Buick Park Ave (an amazingly good car for these jobs for $2k BTW) lost its front numberplate 2 years ago somewhere while negotiating snow mounds on parking lots-or so I think. I keep forgetting to go to the DMV to deal with it, and so far Smokey has not felt the need to remind me heh heh.

In PA front plates are not required and since tehre are quite a few PA cars on the road in NJ I think that the constabulary do not react when they see a car without front plates.

So I would not worry.

Nice car BTW :)
