Hi Everybody
I have just bought a 2006 QP and I am over the moon with it.
The only problem I am having is in hooking up my Ipod and getting hands free bluetooth phone from my Blackberry. it has the Bose sound system.
The options I have uncovered so far are:
1. Parrott 9100 phone system through a new speaker. Phone only.
2. Tooki phone system which works handsfree but will not link with the Blackberry phone book for auto dialling
3. Loudlink system which replaces CD drive and loads from an 8gb memory card and I think has an aux input which would take the Ipod. This is still being developed for the QP by some guy in Hungary.

Has anybody out there come up with any better solutions Please.

Paul

Parrot will integrate right into the stereo system. Any reputable installer will know where to splice it in to silence the speakers and leverage them for audio (I have this installed on my 2007).

For iPOD, pick up the $95 kit on eBay and look up my post on the installation. Perfect digital connection. Simple toggle switch to switch between CD changer and iPOD. Mounted iPOD right next to Forward/Reverse toggle switch with velcro. Using nano model. Works extremely well and looks good.

I bought from 'eboltron'.

Ask him to install the small microwitch I found for him that I used on my car. It is a really small switch that works great. The switches he sent me were HUGE. I supplied him with the source for the small microswitch I found to replace his switches.

You also need an iPOD cable that charges via USB and not firewire. ebolton should know where you can order one off ebay. This is needed in order to get the newer devices to charge (still works on the older ones too). Have him wire the kit for RCA outputs, and you don't need any extension cables for the QP.

Thanks for the help. I have made contact and got it ordered.

Theres a retrofit bluetooth kit made by maserati for the cars that didnt come with it. I am having that installed into my 07 this week. Mine also came with a ipod charger/hook up. Its in the arm rest and it plays on the headunit via a fm modulator. I bought the itrip and the way its setup in my car is a million times better than the itrip, no static at all and great sound quality.

Here is a retrofit Bluetooth kit I've found and am considering.

At $800 bucks though, I wondering if it's worth it rather than just putting my SIM card in the dash?
Does putting your sim card in the slot work? I tried it and nothing happened for me.

I will have the part number for the Maserati OEM retrofit by the end of next week. My appointment with the dealer to have it installed is on the 14th. I wouldn't spend 800 on an aftermarket kit. Im not sure how much the factory piece was but I don't think its much more than 800.

The enquiries I have made about the Tooki intergrated system indicate that it will not synchronise with your phone book so each outgoing call must be separately dialled. This was a major drawback for me. I have installed a Parrot Mki9100 which works great and plays through the Bose speakers

Sorry for the long delay in replay - but yes, putting my AT&T SIM card in the slot of my 2006 QP worked perfect. Obviously, no phone book transfers or anything, but you can store them in the QP - it just won't 'sync'.

Let me know if you get the OEM retrofit part # and price - I may be interested.

I also have the Parrot sitting in a box. I just can't bring myself to adding another screen and a control gadget to that beautiful interior!

can you please add the link to your post showing the install pics and instructions. Also with the parrot kit does it have to show or can it integrate into your steering wheel controls. do you have to install a separate mic? Thanks

Hey AZSTD, I thought the built in phone SIM slot did not work in the US? I'm pretty sure I tried it but now I feel confused and I've read a lot of posts that say it does not work. I might have to find an AT&T sim and try it out.

Hmmm...I've not read that, but I'm sure you found it somewhere. It worked for me...here's my setup.

2006 QP, has built in phone option in arm rest, ATT is the carrier, iPhone.

All I did was remove my SIM card and put it in the QP and it worked just fine. No phone book transfer or anything - or course. But I could make and receive calls.

Having said that I never take the time to remove the SIM card and put it in the car. I have often thought of getting another 'line' for just the sim card to put in the car, then forwarding my number when I get in the QP.

I have a QP 05 F1 haven't seen any sim card dock in the center, was this something you had to order it with from Maserati? Also, does any one know where I can find a homelink for my car,it seems the previous owner didn't have a need for beeper entry to his home...
