I parked at the office this morning ( it’s all outdoor and no shade parking ) at which time it was already 80 F, opened the windows just a tad, put the sun share in the windshield and on to the nice air conditioned building . But I had an outside lunch to go to, so went to the car , started it and this came on :

Makes perfect sense 🙄 that it would alert me of icy conditions, and a 32 F reading when the temperature outside was 101 F ! So I drove off , turned on the AC , and waited just about 2 or 3 minutes to put up the windows so as to let some of the air flow cool down the cabin just a bit more .all the meanwhile while staring at the icon and 32 F reading . And then the second ..make that millisecond..the windows closed, the alert disappeared from the display , and the accurate temp reading came on . WTF ? ( and again, by that I don’t mean Wow That‘s Fantastic )😜

No, that would be way too crazy if it did happen, even by Maserati electronic gremlins standards ..but the coincidence is still a head scratcher ..since my simple mind can’t possibly make any logical association of a cause and effect tie-in. The ICE alert and temp reading was a sufficient crazy dosage ..

LOL I hear ya, that is a head scratcher...even crazier if it also would have automatically selected the ICE trans mode too

Yeah, this happened to me a few times. big deal. Happened on Porsches and Infinitis too. Bosch sensor transient faillure. More news at 11...

That’s what I suspected, a failing ambient temp sensor ( figured it got fried and / or the wires melted 🙄 by a week long of either very near to, or just above 100 F temps ). Hmm, wonder how cars in Arizona, Texas, Nevada ..or Dubai, etc.. fare with that climate for months ..🤔. .. I just thought it was funny that the sensor defaults to the freezing readout and ice alert when it’s that hot outside, but particularly bizarre that it returned to normal the moment I closed the windows. But yes, lucky it didn’t put the trans in ICE mode also. 😬

Got it to work...had to push extra hard...now it popped into the door panel...Ugh...time to yank the door panel off. Saw a zip-tie fix somewhere here on the forum. Good times

Zip ties are your friends ( as long as they’re not visible to the naked eye ). But ugh, taking the panel off does not sound like fun. 🥺

Haha. This reminds me of when I owned a Alfa Romeo 155. It was our "summer car" at the cabin in Spain. Beautiful sunny day, around 100f, I drove through a narrow street and the car coming towards me crashed into my mirror. The temperature sensor was in my mirror and suddenly ext temp dropped to - 4 degrees f, the aircon fired on all cylinders dumping extremely hot air through the cabin. And I wasn't able to override the "smart" aircon in the car. 😂😎

My first car was a 1971 Fiat 124 sport coupe. To this day, I love that car, and recall with fondness how incredibly enjoyable it was to drive, mostly by reason of its simplicity.
Even today, all I need in a car is a speedometer, a gas gauge, a temp ( coolant ) gauge, and a radio…Oh, ok and bluetooth.. 😌.
