Sorry if this is a repeated question, new to the board.
I've got an '89 228. Everything is great, passed MOT etc (UK owner)

Does anyone have any idea as to how to get the rev counter functional please?

make sure the signal wire on the infinitive coil is not lose. If that is okay, remove gauge cluster and re-solder circuit board contacts. Usually also fixes things like odometer not working. Good luck
