Hello all
It has been a while since i have been on the forum. Have had the coupe GT for 2 years now and LOVE it. Recently ran into a strange problem though and hoping some out there more learned than I might be able to help. I was driving home late about 2 nights ago and developed a flat on I95S. I pulled over and changed the tire out to the inflatable spare that sits in the trunk. I proceeded to hook up the maser compressor to fill up the tire. When the tire reached about 25 psi, it died. plain out stopped.
I went into my car and looked at the gauges. the lights were working. stereo was not. and all the gauges were stuck at the "0 position" but the car was still running. So I drove to the service station, filled up the tire the rest of the way making sure not to turn off the car and drove home. during the drive home i noticed the following:
Speedometer would not go above 20mph
tach would not go above 1000k
fuel, battery, oil, etc all pegged at 0.
i got home, turned off the car. the next morning tried to start the car- nada- nothing worked. so, i hooked up a trickle charger and then put it onto a "burst" starter. nothing. so i figured my battery must be dead- right?
today, put in a new optima red top and guess what? NOTHING!
The engine turns but will no start. the lights works but nothing else comes on or moves?
HELP!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

So the real question is ....

Do you have spark? A decent spark plug wire pen will allow you to know if you are getting spark. If you are getting spark, then are you getting fuel... Take a plug out and see if it's dry.. If you have spark and no fuel, then the MAF, otherwise it's electrical....

so i checked

all of the fuses and the spark plug- all looks perfect.
I checked the MAF and, not being an expert, looks fine
i am guessing electrical?
What would allow that lights, windows, seats, etc to go on but not the radio/computer and not allow the car engine to ignite??????
very strange.
i am concerned.

Lots of things....

If you are getting fuel and no spark, could be the neutral safety start switch, could be the F1 pump, could be the brake sensor switch and a few other things. I myself would start with the F1 pump, make sure it's priming, then check the brake switch and neutral switch, etc...

I myself check for spark with one of these:

Kent Woodward trolls around here, he can provide us with the best diagnostic approach... Kent???

D,
I would check fuse # 41 (second row from the bottom, second fuse from the right- blue 15 amp) in fuse box # 29 located in the passenger footwell behind the floormat and metal access cover. Look in the far right hand tall fuse box (the one with NO relays). If the fuse is good, check if the fuse has current (power) with a test light or volt meter. Believe it or not I have seen this, the cigarette lighter fuse feeds other fuses. If it has current and the fuse is good, double check ALL the fuses in the passenger footwell fuse panel.
Let us know how you make out. PM me with your email address and I can send you the fuse/relay diagrams for the entire car.

thanks kent

that is very reassuring to hear.
i actually went to ferrari/maserati of washington to get some new fuses and they suggested the same thing (though they have never seen this problem per se)
i got home, found the exact fuse you mentioned and was about to swap it when i discovered that fmow gave me the wrong sized fuses!
so,not having the correct fuse, i swapped it with another fuse (15a) in the panel but to no avail.
i was about to have the vehicle towed to fmow tomorrow am but am now thinking i should try and get the correct sized fuse and switch it out first- may save me a lot of cost and heartache!
thoughts?
thanks to everyone for their insight!
