Headlights

TGISaturday guys n gals,

Hoping someone can help me out on this one. Last week while driving at night my headlights suddenly turned off. The car made a slight clicking sound much like you would hear at home when a fuse blows out and then the lights went off. I turned the headlight switch off and on to no avail and then simply pulled over and turned the car off and on again which worked perfectly and it's been just fine ever since but in the interest of preventitive maintenance I was curious if this happened to anyone else and if so what's the cure.

Seems like a fuse change would be obvious so I plan to do that but if it had blown a fuse then I'm assuming they wouldn't be working properly now so not quite sure what if anything else I need to do.

Thx,

First off do you have Xenon or Halogen? Mine has Xenon and I had a similar problem but only one went. The driver-side winked out and blew the fuse (yes Xenon headlights have a left and right fuse). Turned out to be a bad ballast.

Hi BYZZ, I believe they are Xenon lights. Ballast sounds pricey...sure hope it's just a fuse...but it's odd b'c that was a week ago and I drive everyday and it hasn't happened again so maybe it was just a fluke..or is that wishful thinking...
