I have a 2014 GT sport and ever since I got the car it’s had terrible mpg (like 7.1mpg). I don’t drive like a lunatic and no matter how I drive my mpg stays around 7- 9. What in the world can this be?
City driving only, you should still be getting around 12/13. Does the car run smooth, idle smooth, any missing in the engine, sputtering, is the acceleration ok?I have a 2014 GT sport and ever since I got the car it’s had terrible mpg (like 7.1mpg). Dash says 7.1 mpgCalculated by you or a dash reading??
Fill your tank, reset trip mileage and see what mileage you're getting for a whole tank.Dash says 7.1 mpg
Recently filled up and putting the mileage to the test. The first few days it read 7.1mpg as usual but now it says 7.9 mpg so it’s going up slowly but still ridiculous. At half a tank right now. I will reply back to you when I’m near empty. Let’s wish for the best.Fill your tank, reset trip mileage and see what mileage you're getting for a whole tank.
We have the same GT, a 2014. Fuel capacity is 22.72 US Gal, including a 4.75 reserve. From a full tank, when your fuel light comes on you have burned 17.97 US gals. At this point, take your mileage and divide it by 17.97. You should see a more accurate reading, this way. 👍🏾Recently filled up and putting the mileage to the test. Cool beans...it comes on with 4.75 gallons remaining in the tank. It's right around a 1/4 of a tank. And it will seem a bit early but I guess that's not a bad thing. 😝I’ll look out for the light. I remember the guy I bought the car from said the fuel light comes on a bit early. I don’t know how to fact check this since I don’t know when the light is supposed to come on. When it comes on I’ll send you a picture how does that sound?
Thank for your help. How’s your car treating you so far?Cool beans...it comes on with 4.75 gallons remaining in the tank. It's right around a 1/4 of a tank. And it will seem a bit early but I guess that's not a bad thing. 😝
Car has been a joy to own and to drive. Since August 2018.Thank for your help. How’s your car treating you so far?
That’s great to hear. Let’s wish for the best of luck with both of our cars 🍻Car has been a joy to own and to drive. Since August 2018.
The fuel light doesn't come on at exactly the same point each time.We have the same GT, a 2014. Fuel capacity is 22.72 US Gal, including a 4.75 reserve. You can even measure at half tank which will get you reasonably close. The more fuel from a tank you burn the more accurate your average fuel economy will be.The fuel light doesn't come on at exactly the same point each time.
The standard way to measure mpg is to fill up a full tank, drive to near empty, then fill up a full tank again and divide miles driven by fuel used.
That’s crazy. You never looked into it or is it how it’s supposed to be?I have averaged around 7-8mpg for the 10 years I've owned the car (2009 GT S F1). Mostly city driving, slightly heavy foot.
I have no idea if it does or doesn't. Info is according to fuel capacity as listed in the owners manual. Either way should work. The fuel light doesn't come on at exactly the same point each time.
