Under moderate braking at low speeds (i.e coasting to a stop at a light or parking), I am periodically hearing a very audible and horrible squeeling sound. Sounds like it's coming from the front brakes, but hard to tell. Occurs maybe 10% of the time, and just as quickly as it comes it will go. The sound itself is very high pitched -- can best be described as sound of "squeeling brakes", but could be wrong and curious as to whether anyone has experienced this at all.
Thanks,
Steve

Exact same thing happens to me. Same frequency, etc. I have no idea what's going on. One minute, everything is quiet, then I pull up to a light, next to another car, and there goes that high-pitched sound. Any help out there?

It may be your emergency brake dragging. We've needed to adjust ours quite a few times, it's easy enough to do but takes a little longer in a home garage.

In any case, the first place to start is to jack up the car off the wheels (safely) and spin a wheel with the brakes off and car in neutral. You may need to get the car warm first to have everything warm and expanded. If all the wheels spin freely without drag, then perhaps it's something else.

Let us know what happens...

Same in my case. It typically goes away for a while after some highly spirited driving or a high pressure wheel wash. Would some different brake pads help?

I've gone back and searched all past posts I could find on this issue. Seems there's been some success with driving the car like a complete maniac for a bit. Apparently, this takes care of the glaze on the brakes. One post indicated that he would get the squeel, then take the car to the track for a day, and be fine for about 5000 miles. Will report back on my success.

Squeeling Brakes

Is everyone experiencing this with the Gran Sport? I'm not sure on the brake pads the Gran Sport uses, but if they are different than the coupe, it could be because they are sport brakes and the pads may contain some type of metal compound. Racing brakes are notorious for squeeling, because the racing pads contain metal and the metal pad rubs against the metal rotor.

This will give you your squeeling, but also give you very good braking. It will typically happen when the brakes/rotors are cold and as they heat up, it will disappear or at least diminish.

My guess, it's your pads. It happens alot on the Porsche turbos too. My wife drives a Cayenne Turbo and the brakes sometimes squeel. They also can stop the 5,000 pound truck in 112 feet from 60 mph.

My suggestion, turn up the radio. Very normal of high calibre brakes.
