Gran Turismo Tires

Hi guys! So I'm just about to purchase the GT MC I've been looking at for over a month now. I had it inspected by a 3rd party Maserati Dealer and it passed, the only 2 things they mentioned were to have the brake fluids flushed and to have the rear tires changed. I'm super new to all of this, can I buy just 2 tires or do I have to get all 4? Do you guys recommend any brands or places I should get the tires? I'm assuming any mechanic can have the brake fluids flushed so I wasn't too concerned about that...
Thanks as always for your help! I definitely would not have been able to make this purchase without all of your guys' input and suggestions!

I just ordered a full set with 255 fronts and 305 rears and all in it's $1,500 at Costco. For some reason the 305's are about $100 more each than 295's so they could be a bit cheaper for straight stock sizes.

Edit: sorry should have said mine are the All season variety.
I looked at my last full tire order, which was January 2021:Falken Azenis FK510 XL 245/35ZR-20 and 285/35ZR-20. Front was $140 ea and back was $233 ea for a total of $667.31.

Has anyone put different sized tires on their stock rims? The OEM sizes are a little more expensive and harder to find in most places.

Somehow your math doesn't add up, Just the price of the tires would have been $746 not counting mounting and such. :)

I think I paid more than that just to put decent winter tires on my daily.

You're right off course. I was just copying it off my receipt. There must have been a discount put in there. I'd have to look at the receipt in detail, but regardless, the point I was making was that I was able to get cheaper good tires.

I had also looked into the Falken tires but decided to go with a set of all season BFs. Came out to just under $800 out the door for front and rear. Read some comments from people not liking the tires because of the side profile look but frankly that was not high on my list of things to look for in a tire.

The last couple of times I bought tires ( OE sizes ) the rear ones were no problem finding whatsoever, but I do recall on both occasions sourcing the front ones was a bit more challenging ; I was told it’s an “uncommon“ size, and due to low demand, production of that tire is not as abundant as most other sizes. But I don’t know if that was specific in reference to the Michelin Pilots Sport I was buying , or, if that applies to other tire brands as well.
Over the past few months I was finding the opposite to be true. Plenty of front but no rears. Odd times right now.
I was supposed to get new tires put on tomorrow. But yesterday we got about 6" of snow, a bit more today, and the high yesterday and today was only about 25. Not sure I could even make it out of my driveway, it's downhill then back uphill to the street, then a couple more hills just to get to the main drag.

We'll see how it goes, changed it to next week to try again.

Dice I wouldn't roll...
I swapped my factory P-Zeros for the Michelins a few months ago. WOW. Night and day difference.

I have both, great tires.

Well, almost no more snow on the ground so headed to Costco this morning to get my new kicks put on. NOPE. they said they aren't allowed to put plus size tires on AND it was too low to even get a lift under it. Well that woulda been nice to know.

So took a refund and went to my normal Discount Tire and they ordered the same set and matched the price. Now I get to wait for them to be delivered yet again. Oh well, live and learn. Costco won't ever get any tire business from me again.

Only problem was even Discount's system wouldn't let them order 255 for my front. I tell ya, these computers are about too smart for their own good. So I'm getting standard 245 fronts and 305 rears. I find it hard to believe that even with my car being lowered that an extra 10mm is going to make it rub anywhere.

Oh well.

Interesting about your Costco experience...good to know!
Yes...American Tire store's here in California are the same way...they will only install factory sizes. fyi

Yup, no doubt!
I've been getting them either from my wholesale guy (if he has what I want) or tire rack. :( a little more $$, but...Oh well... Then I have my independent tire store install...they don't seem to be as picky...but their careful and know/respect my expectations.

The whole thing kinda pissed me off to be honest. Couldn't get it up in on the lift? How about some wood blocks or something? How about having a set of wheel dolly jacks around (this is what I had to do to get a jack under it at home).

I specifically went to a Costco further away because it's in a higher rent neighborhood and I thought they should have some experience on higher end cars. Guess not.

But oh well.

As for not wanting to put 10mm wider tires on the front that seems about silly. That's what, less than 1/2" wider and maybe 1/8" taller?!? Sure doesn't seem like that would make any real difference in clearance on just about any car.

Oh well. Supposed to be decently nice here this weekend, might take it out for another spin and burn some rubber off these tires before they go away. :)

I'm sure they could have easily worked out how to get it up on a lift. I think they just used those excuses as a default if you will, to NOT have to be liable for any damages that might have occurred to your vehicle.

I know it's not the best scenario, but just bring the tires/rims to them loose...they should put whatever size tire you want on them no questions asked...

Yeah, I take my tires/wheels loose about half the time.
