Hello fellow Maserati enthusiasts,

I have unfortunately recently parted with my Spyder, and now have a Formula Dynamics Drive by Wire Enhancement (DBWE) module looking for a good home. It’s been in use less than a year, however, in that time it greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the vehicle during that time.

Most of you know all about this quintessential upgrade, however, if you are not sure what this is, take a look at the following page on the Formula Dynamics site. Do a quick search on Maserati Life for “drive by wire enhancement”, and you will find dozens of glowing reviews, testimonials, and notes of gratitude for this gem.

The asking price is $965, which is more than 25% off the already discounted $1,295 price for a brand new unit from Formula Dynamics. It is important to note that you risk absolutely nothing in the bargain. My DBWE will go through rigorous testing followed by reprogramming for your specific Maserati model at Formula Dynamics as part of their “second owner” program, and will ship out to you with a everything you need to install it in your vehicle.

Here is what Jeff Roelands of Formula Dynamics had to say about this program:

FormulaDynamics said:
George,

We offer a service that will provide the new DBW owner, the complete harness, bypass plugs, instructions, programming and support needed to install the DBW in their Maserati. This helps to be sure that the product gets installed properly and that the new owner is able to get the support they need if they run into any trouble along the way. This also allows us to certify the product is functioning properly and that the programming is correct for the new owners Maserati (there are many different programs and even different wiring harnesses / instructions to suite different model years and transmission options).

When using this service, the seller will be able to market their DBW to a wider audience as we can program it for several different Maserati vehicles and years. Once a buyer has been identified, the seller would then send us the DBW. We would test / certify the module and let both parties know that the module checked out well and that we were successful in programming for the new owner. Once payment is received and we are authorized by the seller, we would then ship the completed kit to the new owner and this will act as an official "hand off" from the seller to Formula Dynamics for installation / product support.

We believe that it lends value to the new buyer knowing that everything has been certified with us, is correct for their vehicle and it offsets the time the original owner will inevitably spend uninstalling the previous installation and helping the new owner to get the product installed properly.

Best Regards,
-- Jeff Roelands

Here is a photo of my actual DBWE that will be sent for FD for testing and programming before making its way to the new owner:

P.S. My apologies if this post runs afoul of any forum rules. I considered posting it in the “Buying & Selling” classifieds, but that section appears to be exclusively for complete vehicles. In addition, I have previously seen other “for sale” posts on this board without any complaints. If this post is deemed off topic by the moderators, I would very much appreciate it being moved to the appropriate sub-forum.

George - best of luck selling your DBW unit. Indeed one of the best upgrades one can make for a modern Maser. Your post is welcome here as an owner-member....

I sure would, but technically it will be Formula Dynamics doing the shipping, since they will be sending out the DBEW after it undergoes inspection and reprogramming for your model. If you'd like, I can send Jeff a PM, and ask about shipping cost. I can't imagine it would be a problem, since I believe we have folks in the UK with DBEWs already.

Regards,
George
