Goodafternoon. I've got my eye on an 05 CC Coupe Bianco Fuji. It's at an issurance auction. Exterior and interior are BEAUTIFUL but it is a flood car. Lot does not have keys but they say it doesn't start. I'm not sure if she meant it doens't start because it doesnt have keys OR if it don't start because something is broke. Okay lets assume the worse. What would be common problems with a flood car that would mostlikely need replacing if it doesn't start. Or am I asking way to broad of a question. I'd love to pick it up and I absolutely love the color but I don't want to put myself in a trick bag.

Also I have a couple other cars I have my eye on at another site but I'm not a memeber to that one. Is anyone here a dealer or have buyer access to "Coparts"?

Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop trying to cut corners on an Italian sports car.

If I recall, you have posted many bad experiences with the previous Maser you obtained at a deep discount, this one will be worse.

The resale on a top quality car is not bad. It will be much cheaper in the long run to buy a good car at the start.

Just my $.02 but its your money.

I'm sorry I guess it's just my thrifty nature. And I never keep anything over a year so I guess I'm always up for a different approach. Yah, I did get a nice deal on mine and after the issues I've had I'd still say I'm even if not ahead of the game if I were to have just bought locally or found the most Pristine example of a CC coupe, although mine was very nice when I bought it also. I could just go out walk into the local dealer (Continental Motorsports) and buy whatever they have available that I like but where's the fun in that. It's not really a money issue (nor am I rich) I guess it's all about the search for me. I don't think I've ever bought a car locally. I got all my jags from all over including atlanta, michigan, and alabama. I got my Infiniti in Wisconsin. The Maser in Utah, and the list goes on. I thank you for your opinion and it's probably not a bad idea but in many cases I like to just throw around some ideas for the sake of conversation and gaining further knowledge if nothing else. The auction is Friday so chances are there is no way I'd buy because I haven't gained enough knowledge about the situation but who knows about next time.
I'm just curious more than anything that if not me, what kind of deal whoever is going to get when they bid or will they be setting themselves up for failure.

So I do sincerely thank you for you response but knowledge in regards to the mechanics of the vehicle in question would be even more appreciated.

Setting aside the machanical components, that could be cleaned and reassembled, the electronic components will kill you, an ECU for example cost somewhere around 4G....just not worth it.

Yah I figured that would be the "hurter". Anyother BIG ticket items? I figured there is the ignitionn ecu, transmission, and suspension if I'm correct?

Yah I agree there also. I only entertained the idea for the simple fact that the vehicle itself was intact and I figured any ecu swapping and things of that effect once diagnosed and identified would be easy enough for a simple fellow like myself to complete.

In many cases from what I've learned about this car thus far is that it't not a difficult car to work on at all its just sometimes a difficult car to diagnose.

We all know how bad our relays can be. how hard they are to diagnose....with water damages it could easily cause bad contact with already poorly designed relays...

I would run from this one....if the price was right, would be nice to pick the interior items

That vehicle was auctioned off last week and sold in the high 40's the owner decided to pay a fee and walk away from the vehicle. The vehicle is being auctioned off again and will end in about 20 hours and holds a bid of close to 40 thousand dollars. Please rethink your actions. the vehicle is an 05 I think. OH P.S. stay away from that auction block because its vehicles that dont end up selling on copart so they open up bidding to the public. Overall if your in the Maserati stay away from SALVAGE. Or else you will kick yourself in the ass in a year or 2. I saw on get listed for sale for one day on ebay and they guy decided to cancel that auction so many people were offering him less then half of what he was in the car. Just hang tight because dealers will have to let go of their vehicles sooner or later they can keep relisting the car for one year.

I was but after doing research I figured it would be a better idea to stick to a clean title. If you link into my last thread I had I stated the reasons behind why I chose to skip out on a salvage title. Their are many reasons! Just giving him a heads up on things.

Thanks for all the info. $40k, no way in hell I'd pay that. Do you bid on coparts? I heard the Iaai auction was much better.
