Hello all,

For anyone who was the twinturbo 3200GT , what signs you had prior to the clutch replacement?

THe other day, ive noticed a strange " humming" sound and went to the dealer. THe sound was coming from the area where the engine connects to the gearbox.

Mechanics there told they were 99% sure it was related to the clutch, not single weird sound from engine.

He revved it a little and it stopped. SOmetimes it makes that noise, sometimes dont.

One couple times, during hard acceleration , when changing from 2nd to 3rd gear the clutch pedal sort of "remained" flored to the firewall, and it slowly returned to the normal position... Perhaps clutch sign here.

Not bad since the clutch was once changed in 2001.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated,

Hugo

Yes, its really a "squeelling" sound, doesnt make always, sometimes it makes, other dont.

Do these bearings come with OEM SACHS clutch assembly?

Can this bearing fail anytime ?

Thanks

It's rare for the bearing to completely fail unless one lets the situation degrade, but it can get pretty bad..

The noise is a result of the T/O bearing grease seal failing. So the "race" inside the bearing assembly has no lubrication and it's metal-on-metal rubbing!

The T/O bearing is a separate part from the PP or clutch disk.

Get it fixed before it gets to be a major problem.

YOu advise to perform that at maserati dealer, or a good reputable shop, considering this type of work?

Can take advantage of that and install the Larini rear exhausts that are arriving :)
