The Maserati Quattroporte has been facelifted for the first time since its launch three and a half years ago.

The large executive sedan was falling seriously behind in its segment, but the updates help bring it up to speed.

Maserati calls it a 'substantial restyling,' but the changes are subtle. On the outside, the Quattroporte gets a revised bumper design with a more aggressive shark nose and chrome accents. Matte black trim is now used on the side skirts, extractor, and side mirrors. Behind that aggressive grille, a new adjustable air shutter has been added to help reduce aerodynamic drag by 10 percent.

Inside, the Quattroporte gets a revised center console that makes the cabin look much more upscale. The 8.4-inch touchscreen now has a prettier housing and the buttons have been modernized and have a better layout that will make them easier to use. The electronic parking brake has also been moved and replaced by a rotary knob for volume and function control.

The UConnect-based infotainment system is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
