If you're thinking about obtaining a Maserati - don't... please.

Take the styling - looks like an Aston, or common Jag-ewe-war. Do you really want to spend six figures on something that looks like a Ford?

Then there's performance - we're all spending additional thousands on aftermarket exhausts and lowering just to achieve acceptable performance.

Maintenance? Read the threads - uncaring dealers, exploding F1 pumps, clutches expiring in 10k.

The only thing we had to induce a manly swelling of... pride was exclusivity and now that's gone. I've seen SIX others this month including an QP and MCV on consecutive days.

For the love of God - DON'T BUY THAT MASERATI or I'll have to trade in on that Noble. :D

Same problem here in Switzerland...
go get a noble.
wow...relax
In case others haven't sensed it...

I feel some tounge in cheek in Steeldreams post....

to taunt you Steel, give me your address and I will drive up and down your street all day and night.
Yes, agreed. And definitely don't buy a QP, as I'm hoping the market falls flat on its face, just enough time for me to upgrade to one this summer.
It's the end of the world. I saw a QP in Loyola Corners today. That's three days running. There was nothing I could do but grin feebly and muster a weak wave...

Demoe thanks for that compassionate offer. MIne's the house with the guy with the shotgun on the porch :)
Im spotting quite a few QP's but not too many coupes.
They are mostly driven by older folks, or i should say afforded by.

Looks like maserati is trending toward the Mercedes S, SL Class,7 Series BMW and in the future, the bentley customer as their targets. They will introduce the automatic next year I think and future coupes will have a much softer f1 system. softer than the 2004-06 models.

The mechanic advised me that they are getting alot of complaints about the f1 shifter in general and they are doing alot of pre-mature clutch replacements due to ignorant driving styles. Maserati, with their current customers, will have to install a pure automatic transmission.
Hey, Demoe, let's go drive by together.
I have to admit, I have seen a total of maybe four other Maserati's since I have had mine. The most recent was at the club where I play golf. It was a Gransport parked nose to nose with my Spyder. I was mortified!! These things are getting to be as common as Ferraris!!

I think my GT Coupe (6 speed) just went up in value because of this thread. :D
Yeah, whenever I ask the valet to get my car, they always ask "which Maserati?" "The black one...".

Not!

I've seen only one non-QP on the road in a year since I've owned mine - another coupe. I've seen a Spyder hiding away in a garage, but never on the road.

These things are meant to be driven, people!
MikeA, DemoE, Steeldream, and others in SF bay area,

There's a bunch of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, porsche, lotus, etc owners that get together saturday mornings between about 8-10AM at the South-East end parking lot of Santana Row to look at each other's cars, gab, and often a subsequent drive by some. I've met a bunch of interesting people there with my ancient 330GTS. Would be great to see a Maserati or three there as well. Please have a look at Ferrarichat.com, Northern California section, "Santana Row" threads.

but that would require that one be conscious @ 8 AM on a Saturday....

Spousal unit and I spent the night at the W prior to the Wine Country tour arranged by Andrew. When it came time to pick up the car in the morning to head over to the Cafe Sportiva, the valet asked "what kind of car?" and we responded "Maserati" several minutes later a red coupe appeared and we had to tell the crestfallen parker "Sorry, that's nor our Maserati" (It was Willie's!)
They are still hard to find compare to Ferraris. I own my Maser for 7 months, only saw 2 coupes pass by. I like to have them more on the road but not too many. It is pretty hard to find aftermarket part for the Coupe/Spider. That is what I don't like about small number production cars.
what I find strange is...

I live in the Northern California Bay Area in a gentrifying, "up and coming" neighborhood which is on the outskirts of a "rough" area. I am amazed at how many people who appear jobless, carless, sitting at a bus stop who realize my car is a Maserati.....Does Maserati lend their cars to some (C)Rap artists?
Hey there are still more Ferraris than Maseratis in my buildings parking lot ;)

London's awash with Bentleys, Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, etc.. but the Mazzers are still exclusive.. just.
Deane, I'm driving #3 son down to Malibu for Water Polo camp on Saturday. We're planning on dropping by Santana Row on the way outa town - hope to see you there, look for the yellow spyder with the 6'10" kid sticking out the top.

See less See more
Steeldream,

Great, I'll be there from about 8:45 to 9:30 or so, unless you were planning to come and go earlier. I'm about to start looking for new Spyder and would like to chat for a few minutes if possible.

BTW, no Masers sighted in Cupertino yet, just a lot of silver Mercs and sensible second cars.

back from the southland - saw three more Maseratis on the way, including 2 coupes within a minute of each other on Malibu Canyon Road Saturday morning - if you know who you are, keep em in the garage! (By way of mitigation also saw 2 Bentley Continental GTs and 51 of the new retro Mustangs)

did make it by Santana Row for about an hour prior to Saturday departure and got to meet Deane and his 330 Spyder! If you've got an hour or so to kill next Saturday it's a hoot.

Here's a short clip of some of the cars present.

The tall skinny kid trying to figure out how he'd fit in the Lambo's is #3 Son Ben, and the Blue 330 departing at the end is Deane's
