My windows on my 02 spyder are going nuts at the moment!

Every now and again when i pull up and apply the handbreak the windows automatically go down and the only way to get them back up is to use the roof switch to put the roof down which then makes the windows go back up!

The whole think is daft and I look stupid constantly putting the roof up and down sometimes even in wet weather

Any ideas?

Also airbag warning lights is constantly on the dash, needs a new airbag switch yet only had this done a couple months ago!

Windscreen seal has come loose and water is seeping through.

Fabric around rear window keeps popping out the seal which allows water to come through the zipper.

And thats it for now.

Any ideas?

In the "it can't hurt" category: use the battery disconnect switch to shut down the computer that operates the top for an hour or so (be sure to follow the owner's manual instructions to leave the windows down before killing power).

Mine acted strange for a while until I did this.

My windows are also acting weird...... They shake at 135 but are cool over 150. Should I claim this under warranty?

Hello Elie,

Check out the door harness. Try lightly pulling on the harness and pulling the connector to the A-pillar see if you can make the window go up/down. When I disconnected the harness from the A-pillar, I remembered I also got the Air Bag Warning Light (and my dealer had to reset it). But I don't see how this can be effected by your parking brake.

Good luck.

The dealer has had a look at it and cant find anything wrong and because its an intermittent problem I can't prove otherwise!

However they did find that the Mirror seal and steering rack rubber boot both need replacing to the cost of £324!!! ( what for a couple of rubber bits? but oh yes Mr Topp there is of course labour at £97 per hour + VAT!!!) Tossers

On top of all that they say there is water seeping through the seal on the windscreen and I need a whole new windcreen put in as they cant repair the seal! and of course according to the dealer this £2k job is not covered under my trident warranty!

Then the airbag warning lights come on when I hit a pothole in the road and the potholes are causing the roof to pop open and warning light to flash so I have to stop, put down and then up the hood....

I'm sick and tired of this car I think I may just replace it with a boring but relaible and comfortable lexus LS430

Door Microswitches!

Does Your Battery Go Dead After Only A Few Days Of Sitting? It May Be A Problem With The Microswitch In The Door Handle. You Can Check It Your Self By Listening For A Click Noise When U Pull Up On Your Door Handle With The Door Open. If You Dont The Micro Switch Arm Is Bent And Can Cause The Problems You Are Describing. It Also May Be The Top Window Position Microswitch. It Tell The Glass Ecu That The Window Has Reached Top Position. If It Does Not Get This Signal It Will Go Into Default And Make Your Window Go Straight Back Down.

Hi guys. I have been reading on this site for awhile now, but have never posted. I guess there is a first time for everything.

Here is what happened to me, and hopefully won't happen to you with this window issue...

Last month, my window started acting nuts as well. It would go up, down, all but with a lot of strange noises. Sometimes it would stop working all together. Finally, one day outside of a grocery store, I was rolling my window down to put my top up, and SNAP! CRUNK! I could tell something broke inside of the driver's side door.

I couldn't roll up or roll down the window anymore, so I took it in to my mechanic in the Newport Beach area. It turns out the motor inside of the door that operates the window had broken. The mechanic showed me the actual arm, and it didn't look good at all. It was all sorts of bent. My mechanic said I was lucky that the bent metal didn't go right through the door and cause body damage!

He reinforced both of my windows with new motors and arms. Needless to say, $800 later both of my windows work fine without the noise they used to make when operating.

I hope this helps with some of the mystery regarding the windows in our 2002 cars. I drive an 02 Spyder CC. But like I said, with much luck this won't be a problem of yours.

Nice to meet you!

Finally found the problem it is due to the roof latches keep coming loose after driving over potholes causing the windows to wind down when I put on the handbreak as the car thinks the roof is going down hence why I have to open and close the roof for the windows to go back up.

The problems had gotten worse over the last few weeks the roof now actually pops open after drivng over a few bumps or potholes and I have to pull over and put it down and then back up - not fun in the rain..

Car booked in for this wednesday.
