I have less than 14000 miles on the car, I put less than 800 miles per year so should I wait until 18000 miles ?

If you care for the motor, you chould change the oil at least once per year. If not, ??

every year... sitting and not running is bad for a engine... flat spots on seals and condensation in the oil...

Yup, I agree. Change the oil at least once a year. Condensation can be very bad for an engine because of the corrosive nature of some of the products formed as the oil breaks down as well as reacting with combustion products captured by the oil. H2SO4 and HNO3 come readily to mind. If the oil sits these have a much greater chance of forming.

Approaching it from another angle --- my gosh man you need to drive more!

Oil is a relatively inexpensive commodity.

Change it evey year min but no more than 5K miles for sure.

I have a 2006 530i that comes with "full service". A joke for sure.

The service light did not come ion until 18K miles! What!

I had changed the oil 2X's before BMW just changed it!

So, that's 3 oil changes in 18K miles.

Cheap insurance.

your math: 18000 - 14000 = 4000 miles to go.
4000 miles / 800 miles a year = 5 more years !!!
