I happen to be in Canada this week and am having fun driving the Buick on the "open roads"... too open perhaps;)

After a 3 wine lunch, I am on a tight schedule to a 3pm meeting on a 2 lane highway posted at 80 km/hr - about 50mph for the US.

I have a gaggle of cars in front of me and no time pr patience to spare..... downshift , gas it and fly !!

I'll bet I hit 200kms/hr or 120-125mph in no time - exhilerating!!!:autofahrer:

I settle down in front of the slowpokes - slowing down is 112kms or about 70mph. in that 80km zone.

Next car over the hill is our friendly gendarme.... lights go on immediately and I'm on the shoulder.:furious2:

Surely, the gaggle was happy with my misfortune.

To be brief - I'm off scotfree...

I give at least some credit to the fact that , I too, was driving an unmarked vehicle.

As we say - "Try it. You'll like it !!!":anon:

Brilliant!!! How DO you do it, Mr. Webster? You need to teach classes. You must be one helluva charming man! :)

The only time I got out of a ticket was completely by accident. I was in Atlanta, in a '65 Mustang, doing 60 on a surface street (also late for a meeting). Apparently the cops there are required by law to ask if you would like them to calibrate their radar detector. The dumb scientist in me took over. Instead of saying "Sure!!" I quite innocently started asking him how it worked. Not satisfied with the simple answer, I tried to go deeper. Before I got my answer, he left. Back to the patrol car. A few minutes later he returned, shoved my papers at me and told me he had another call to go to. Lucky me, right?

Only later did I realize that he was too uncomfortable trying to answer my technical questions. :D

Wish I had your balls and luck!! If you get caught going 50k over the posted speed limit in Ontario they impound your car on the spot and at least a $2000 fine!

You kept the badges for resale I'll guess. It won't be a Buick then, will it.

So you're the proud owner of a ???

Don't confuse nerve with stupidity ...

I know I dodged a huge one.
Normally I travel the secondary roads... error this time.

I was way over 50kms in excess but I did have a clear view for long way in front.

So what you are saying is that Canadian police are so stupid that unless there is Maserati script on the trunk , they don't know what it is? PUHLEEEZE!

I think most of the guys would need to read the ownership to really get it..

I'm not in Gotham here - the is "the sticks" where I'm trolling.
Farm fields - Clem Kadiddlehopper, Mayberry USA.

I swear - it makes a difference.

I had one of them pull me over once - from the front b/c i had no front tag.

He swings around from behind - just rolls down the window from the side (after reading the script) and says,
"OK, we all get it with the car - speed limit here is 80kms/hr"

"Was i exceeeding Officer?"

"Just watch it" says he and squeals off.

Flying Under the radar - not in it!

Should I change my signature to read that?

We're just giving you a razzing (Badges?...We don't need no stink'n badges.).

Here in Palm Springs, CA the badge has the opposite effect. It kind of says, Big money tax payer...don't make waves unless he's really over the line.

It's all about survival.

Not really off-topic.

Detectors are banned in Ontario and most Canadian provinces, I think.

Canada is a bit more regulated than the US - I live in both for part of of the year.
You can see it and feel it.

I've been stopped twice in the past year and the officer did not know what car it was until they looked at the rear end.
Both were radar traps. I'm not kidding. You don't see em much on the road in Toronto area. But they still gave me both tickets.

You actually see more Gran Turismos than Coupes and Gransports.

William, at 125 mph how solid does the QP feel? I got mine up to 105 mph last month but didn't notice anything unusual . . . including the speed, which was purely by accident.

I have been up to 120 mph (blowing the dust off on 281). It feels like nothing. And sooo easy getting there.

I guess the Top Speed thread snuck by me back in June. That was fun to read. I can't believe the dude who maxed the speedometer at 200 mph. I didn't think that that was possible. Looks like these cars are faster than advertised.
