Although a leak can travel, an idea as to where it drips onto the ground/floor to get a general idea as to a starting spot, would be my first move. (front of engine, rear of engine etc)
Although a leak can travel, an idea as to where it drips onto the ground/floor to get a general idea as to a starting spot, would be my first move. (front of engine, rear of engine etc)My 2011 Gran Turismo has developed a small coolant leak. It only leaks after a drive (of any distance), and only leaks around 50 millilitres each time. Anyone any ideas?
Thank you in advance.
Check the reservoir tank, it's prone to cracking issues, over time.Mostly below where the Coolant bottle sits - front of engine on right side. Although there is the lower engine cover below which may make it travel.
Not had it up on a ramp yet - just looking for advice to start with. Thanks.
The cracks can also develop below the seam. I would give it a good 'once over' just to rule it out though....good luck to you.I don't think the Expansion Tank is cracked. It looks like new. Also it only happens after a drive. And the fluid has also dropped below the seam of the Coolant tank. I initially thought it was just getting rid of any excess Coolant after I had overfilled it.
What if it makes a dripping sound??Trying to diagnosis a coolant leak via the internet is like getting a haircut over the phone..It could be anything..You pressure test the cooling system and then visually look at it for a leak...That can't be done via the internet...It could be a clamp not sealing, a cracked reservoir, or a hose with a pin hole...All you are gonna get on here is an internet guess...Jason
