Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I'm a bit confused...

I've heard about two cars. Firstly, the GranTurismo convertible. And then a smaller convertible, supposedly with a hard top, with a £60k price tag aimed squarely at the 911.

It's the latter car that really interests me with its smaller dimensions, 2+2 layout, hard top etc. In fact, it's the one that sounds most like the California - and I've seen an amazing looking picture of what this car might look like.

Also, I've heard that the GranTurismo convertible will now have a soft rather than hard top? But where has this information come from? I've seen spyshots of a car with a hard top (or is this the second car!?)

Can anyone help me here with some solid information? Thanks in advance.

the smaller convertible was a plan/rumor that had been floating around many years. it is unlikely now. maserati would not have the resources, or would it make financial sense to produce such a car.

the more likely spyder is a chop top Granturismo. the general consensus is that it cannot be a hardtop convertible since it would be too similar to the FERRARI california. you just can't have a maserati touch a ferrari you know. (exception mc12).

the spyshots you saw was a couple of years ago? like the california?

Thanks for the info guys. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. The smaller, hard top looked (on paper) to be fantastic.

However, any new Spyder is worth getting excited about. I wonder whether it will be smaller than the GranTurismo (like the last Spyder was smaller than the coupe).

Anyway, looking forward to Frankfurt!

This is the first that I've heard of this with confirmed launch dates. I'm not sure that it makes sense to come out with an addition to the line-up right now with sales what they are...

I hear from when I went on the tour of the factory that it will be a 2+2 and a rag top since it would be difficult to make the hardtop and that it would add more weight. Also it could share the 4.2 engine dont quite know though they were secretive lol.
