I just got my black GranTurismo last week and it has a clear bra on it. I really don't like the way it looks and might take it off. What do you guys think? Is it worth keeping, what are your experiences with or without. Thanks!

I have clear bra on back quarterpanels only and they have done the trick so far. I am hesitant to put on hood as I'm not sure I want the line noticeable.

I have a clear bra on my granturismo that goes 1/3 the way up the front of the car, the mirrors, and the back quarterpanels.... My car is white so I hardly notice the seam... I had the same on my lotus elise and never had a rock chip through 4 years of ownership... To me, the protection it affords outweighs its unsightliness... my friend who just got a black 09 gallardo has the clear shield installed on the front and sides of his car all the way up to the window edge... with his installation, I don't even notice it until I'm about a foot away looking for the seam... I guess it depends on the kind of roads you travel most frequently and the speeds you are going... it would be a bummer to take the bra off and then get a rock chip on the front bumper driving down the freeway the following week....

A friend with a GS had the entire front end & hood covered (i.e. No seams at all). You can't see any seams because there are none. Only drawback is that if you have a very dark color, the shine isn't as good - but it beats the chips IMHO.

^^ Couldn't agree more. I just got my GS and won't take the car out for any significant drive until it gets a clear bra.

Depends if it is a driver or a garage queen. I picked up my car (04 Spyder with 10K miles) in Denver without so much as a fleck of damaged paint and then drove it back to Calgary. It took me just over 20 hours to drive 1500 miles on backroads only. A couple of times, in the boondocks of Wyoming and Montana, I set the cruise at 110MPH and just reclined my seat.

Anyway, upon arriving, the entire front of the car literally looked like it had been sandblasted. I ended up repainting it. Needless to say, I applied the clear 3M afterward.

If you drive fast, don't leave home without it.

I just had clear bra put on my Dads black Audi. In certain light you cant even tell there is a line in the middle of the hood. If it is installed right and it is the right film you should hardly even notice it. Clear bra keeps your paint on the front of you car from getting hammered. I put it on all of my new vehicles and I am not driving cars that cost over 100k. Just my opinion.

^^So true! The quality of film and experience of the installer are key when considering this.
I even had my 08 Honda Civic DD done within a week of purchase.

I HIGHLY recommend it. I waited 2 days after taking delivery of my GT-S, and I already had a good nick in in the front by the time I had it installed  Ive noticed a lot of debris that could have harmed the paint, after just a few days of driving. My car is Grigio Alfieri, the line isnt that noticeable, and from 10ft. away, you cant see it. One alternative is to wrap the entire hood, and front fenders.

Agree!!

Just had my Black 911 clear bra applied. Entire hood, entire front quarters. Definitely a difference in the shine. But no line on the hood. I really think that you can get away with half the hood with most colors. Hard to do this with pure Black.
I drive this car as often as I get a chance. Every Day!! Literally could be "sand blasted" if I did not do this. Worth the decrease in shine.

My Grigio Alfieri GTS is being clear bra'd as I post. Full package (entire hood etc..).

Cost me 1,800 for each car. Not sure if this is a little on the high side.

good luck!

While I think the clearbra is a great idea, I have had to many problems with it and because of that it has left a bad taste in my mouth.
The product is designed to be able to be pulled up and replaced for any reason. I have seen to many times paint come up with the clearbra, especially with cars that have been previously painted. Then you get into the whole question of who is responsible for repairs.

A great product but I would never use it.

VT's comments confirm that you should leave it on then!

FYI, I put it on my 07 QP with Grigio Nuvolari (Dark grey). Looks great. They did a bikini cut on my hood which gives a more natural cut line (curve) as opposed to a straight line across the hood (which I didn't care for).

While you are at it, do the a-pillars, front of roof, rocker panels and rear wheel arches. My rockers had chips on them prioe with only 3K on the vehicle.

LOL, ain't it the truth, I was waiting for a Brazilian wax treatment next....

I have clear bra 3M installed originally on my 04 CC....can barely see it unless you're up close and at night then barely visible at all....everyday driver..get behind a semi once and it's paid for itself.

I just love this....only in an Italian car forum! :D

Does anyone NOT have a clear bra that has NOT had any issues?

do you seem to only get issues when driving fast and do you feel that the maserati is just more prone to rock chips and what not compared to other cars?
The reason I ask and I realize its completely different... but I drive a range rover sport and i dont seem to get any rock chips... though i rarely get anywhere past 90 but i'll drive 85 quite a bit.... no such problems?

i guess my main question is... if your going to be driving 80 fastest do you really need a clearbra?

You either drive on very rural roads, or have been very lucky.
One time behind a semi loaded with any kind of gravel on the highway, and your pretty much guaranteed some chips/rash on the front of the car.

My wife drives an ML320 and has no chips on the hood....BUT, look at how high and parallel to the ground your rover and my wife's hood line is. The Masers are lower to the ground and in the direct firing line of rocks, sand, bugs, etc...
