While cleaning my interior I was wiping down the area around the ashtray, a thread of my towel got stuck in the "Maserati" script on the top of the ashtray cover and broke it.

I called the dealer today and found out the Maserati script can't be ordered seperately, you need to buy the entire ashtray. the cost of a new ashtray???.$194.00! they are in stock though!

I'd tell them that they should cover it under warranty and that the defective piece should not break under daily use. I broke my pass. visor mirror cover and it was covered under warranty....it took 6 weeks to be made (the entire visor, suede and all) and shipped from Italy but it was done no charge.

Maybe you can buy the cup-holder in place of the ashtray. IF they're interchangeable - maybe it would be cheaper? That way you can spill sticky drinks on the carpet and leather and you won't have to worry about snagging the script when wiping it all up....

The price on the ashtray used to be $210, looks like it went down a little bit. But yeah, the little things on these car is what makes owning one expensive. Just depends how (un)lucky you are.

My beef was that the entire ashtray needs to be replaced instead of just selling the Maserati script. there clearly are holes drilled into the exisiting ashtray, and the script has male points which is inserted into the ashtray.

seems excessive/unnessary replace an ashtray which to a non-smoker like me is perfectly new.....

I decided to go a different route and found on ebay an old Maserati emblem which I plan to pair with one of those silver engraved name plates....a lot cheaper and pretty nice looking alternative.

I did a very similar thing last week! Slid my briefcase over to the passenger seat and it caught on the script. I'll see what my dealer can do but I wont be buying a new ashtray array.
