Just swap me for my 2002 for a month or so.

When you get back in the 2005 you'll think it's much more solid (plus you'll have been driving the "right" color).

Where would it go?

Just looking under the hood, It's hard to see where you'd be able to fit an effective brace...

If there is something I'd be very interested the 2002 shakes like a dog coming out of the water.

See if you can find any under-hood pictures of a Trofeo, and see what they've done for bracing (besides the monster cross-braces in the cabin area).

thanks guys.

i doubt there's anything available in the engine compartment as the strut towers are hidden. Under body braces may be an option and cross bars in the soft top compartment. of course, i could put a roll cage inside the fuselage but that would be crazy... i guess custom fab is the only way.

What is that bar? Stiffener? Also, I'm wondering if a standard Coupe has that type of frame member where the bumper would be. In any case, you can expect that *some* type of stiffening of the frame is being done for the Trofeo.

I was hoping to get to Parma for the Maserati driving course (and a few laps in a Trofeo) this year when I'm in Tuscany with the family, but the "social committee" guilted me outta that one. I might do a solo trip...

I was disappointed this year to not see a Trofeo at the 24 hours of Daytona. One of my mountain biking pals races the Rolex Series, and I saw the FMoW Trofeo at the Glen (and, if I remember correctly, at Tremblant) and fell in love, leading to my decision to get the Coupe. I'd love to see a Maserati racing in a US road racing series this year...

I think the MC12 will be participating in the ALMS this year (with changes to comply with the rules that will allow the team to score points rather than run in exhibition mode).

I can't find anything about any sort of participation by coupe/trofeo/GS in GT classes for ALMS or Grand Am despite some pretty extensive efforts in 2004-5.

Anyone know what the real status is?

The son of one of the owners at Algar (Jeff Segal) raced in the Grand Am GT car, so I can ask next time I'm there (hopefully not too soon). I think Jeff is back racing M3's in Grand Am this year.
