I've a duoselect QP. Today I downchanged one gear too many and the revs rocketed. Is there software protection that stops the car downchanging and over revving (eg going above the redline)if you are going too fast? I know that with SPORT off and MANUAL selected the car will automatically change up at 6500 or so, however with SPORT on you can redline the car.

There is a rev limiter built into the ECU that should take care of this...

Redlining or hitting the rev limiter on these engines is not going to hurt them if it's occasional.

The built in rev limiter prevents you from downshifting and overrevving
