$900 is cheap, I'd snag one up before dealer/retailer realizes they quoted you almost 20% lower than retail. This is also based off Maserati North America prices, if you're overseas the pump may be cheaper since it's going through the factory direct.

For the most part they are replaced under warranty for free, but some cars are out of warranty, salvage title (no warranty), modified to the point where the warranty was voided, etc. So merely an option to people who don't want to pay the $1,100+ retail.
