Currently have a Ghibli SQ4 as the family grocery getter, but my wife doesn't want me "messing" with it. Looking at getting my first GTS and I found a 2013 Sport that cosmetically looks to be in good shape, but it has 48K miles on it. I am not afraid to do basic maintenance, brake jobs, change shocks, etc.

What are some things that I need to look out for?

48 is kinda high but if it had one, maybe two owners... thats ok...

INTERIOR;
Look for sticky button
Make sure seats work
Check climate unit fully
Hit the information button while car is running to make sure tires can be read
check your light switch
Look for water stains around headliner
Tilt steering wheel
test brake switch
Pull truck bottom out and inspect battery

EXTERIOR:
Ask have any filters been changed
Check out lights/highbeams
Sensors
lock/unlock doors. Check for door lights indicators
Does engine have all its covering
Put a flashlight on the brakes

DRIVING:
Check all driving mode buttons - sport, ice etc
Run thru manual shifting

Hope this helps!

48k is not that high.. i have seen one with 100k miles but it was owned since new so it was maintained accordingly

So the 2013 wasn’t going to work out, had tons of interior cosmetic damage.

I found a 2014 that I am now considering. Here is the car I am looking at. CarGurus - 2014 Maserati GranTurismo Sport - $42,900

It’s a 2014 GT MC sportline with 52k miles, carbon fiber trim.
Has FD wheel spacers and DBW already installed.

I am having a PPI done today.

What do you all think a fair price is for this car?

Beautiful color combo! Seems like a decent price according to KBB... a carfax report may help with finding the service records, here's what's required.

Are you looking for a Sport or MC model? The differences for 2014 are mostly cosmetic but the MC will cost more.

It doesn't look like there are a lot of them for sale. Many are listed incorrectly (MC is actually a Sport and Sport is listed as MC). The link you gave says "Sport" but has all the MC features as far as I can see. As the previous poster said, the price looks good based on the info provided.

Yea I basically had to go through all the coupes and look at pictures.

Another dealer had listed an “MC Stradele” of course it was just a Sport. The dealer was adamant about it being a stradele.

I may be going against common opinion, but with a record of proper maintenance I prefer higher mileage cars to those whose mileage suggest may be garage queens. These cars are meant to be driven , you'd be surprised how many problems, leaks, etc. can develop with cars that sit most of the time and are driven maybe just once a weekend, or in the summertime only. And IMHO, 48 K miles can not be labeled as "high" by any stretch.. I'd start that category at maybe 80 K miles. .
A note to qualify what I said ; if you have a car which has logged on only 500 miles a year , but that’s from diving it once a week for about 10 miles, that’s great , but if it’s low mileage because it was parked for months on end , just be extra careful what you’re getting into ..

Just make sure it has its major service done. Not sure which mileage (i think around 80k). Since that is quite an expensive one. Also, check if wheel hubs, bushes, dampers and brakes have been replaced or not. If all those items have been replaced at some point you should be pretty good to go for a couple of years (depending on mileage)

I bought a 90k miles car. The service history was very complete and all big service parts had been replaced. I've put 12k on her the past 2 years, and apart for some weird exhaust problem and a failing ac compressor bearing its been all good. Doing a major service myself and then she should be good to go some years. Sure, something might break and it will be expensive. But even my specialist was impressed with how the car drove and its condition.

I did have the complete service history with the car, without it i would never have bought it.

How do you like it? I was waiting in the wings as dealer said your deal was pending PPI. I have more info on the aftermarket if you are interested. More than just the DBW. Enjoy.

What else do you know about the aftermarket stuff? DBW, ECM, Larini Sport Cats & X-Pipe. Anything else?

Yea good eye! The previous owner spray painted them yellow and handwrote the script. Next time I go on vacation I will pull them off and send them to be sanded down and re-done in Red.

Sorry I thought you just knew about the DBW. It should also have FD wheel spacers and FD air filter. Don’t know if the service history was included or not but rotors, pads & valve cover gaskets are new. 2 year service was 7/19 and the tires are probably low mileage. You got a great deal. Did they come off of asking?

Yea I forgot about the Wheel Spacers and Filters. It also has Eibach lowering springs. The suspension is a little stiff for the crappy Dallas roads, so I might swap those out in the future when it needs new shocks or something.

They came down a bit when I first negotiated, but then someone at the dealer realized they had mis-priced it as a Sport and not an MC. Overall, I am super happy with it, just need to figure out how to operate the radio / bluetooth :)

Larini and X-Pipe ? So possible complaints from to the wife is not enough , and you want all your neighbors to hate it also ?? ?? You’ll definitely wake up them up in the morning
