Well...

Just replaced my battery here in my CC.

By the way... if you don't already know... opening the trunk with a key only is about the craziest thing.

Anyway... in the "...I did not know that... catagory..."

Your battery has to be a vented battery. That means that there needs to be a vent tube on it and you have to attach it.

Basically... most batteries are under the hood, but the CC has it's battery in the trunk.

So evidently there are some gas that gets emitted that you have to vent out.

Other than that...

And if anyone knows...

I replaced it with an INTERSTATE battery.

The VENT is in the front of the battery (as opposed to the Mas battery that has it's vent on the side.

Because of the vent in the front... I couldn't secure the battery with the HOLDER THINGY.

So I just put the screw in to hold the battery in place.

I'm sattisfied with it. And you will probably only know what I mean if you had to deal with it too.

Anyway... that's all... just some thoughts...

That gas that comes out of the vent tube is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, from overcharging or a battery failure. If you mix the gases with a spark, you get water, and an explosion:

The vent tube is there to keep hydrogen out of the trunk in the event of an electrical problem. Fortunately, those kinds of problems almost never happen.

Oh...

Now that we're talking about it.

I constantly feel like I'm getting hosed on my Mas Parts and Service.

So $125 for the CC battery replacement... that's about right?

I'm just super sensitive on the "rip off" factor.

Believe the technical term for this is a "Carbecue." :)
I like fireworks..

Just replaced the battery in my CC with a Optima red top and
I paid $165 tax/shpd. Car starts up just fine now.

We did get a fews sparks when my brother went to tighten the post with the wrench and touched the car frame by accident.
We just looked at each other and said "well, at least the batterys charged.."

New battery charge life

I'll be curious to see if your new battery drains as fast as the OEM. If I don't put my CTEK on, the battery's dead in three days (if the alarm is active).

When I had my battery replaced in my '02 GT Coupe, I also had them add the "Maserati" trickle charger (it is a CTEK unit with a Maserati logo on it).
