I was hoping to connect with other Atlanta sports car enthusiasts and have some fun with my GT before I have to sell it.

Are there other forums / communities that post meetups and drives?

Go to FerarriChat.com. They have a section for Maserati owners and it's not unusual for Ferarri owners to run in the same crowds. There is a good regional section on there that will let you locate people in the southeast/Atlanta region that are getting together. There is one on this site but I've not found it to be very active. The more likely opportunity would be for cars & coffee events on the weekends where people get together between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m. (depending on the folks) for coffee and a little car talk before starting their day. Once you get cooler temps below 50 degrees, these softer performance tires don't perform very well and driving events start to dry up until the spring. In Atlanta you are still in the 50s/60s so maybe you have some opportunities. Let me warn you however, I took my car on a very spirted, 60 mile drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway this October and it was an amazing experience. You're just going to make giving up this care that much harder, and in fact, you may even consider divorce a realistic alternative once you do that. You're playing with fire! Right know, you've only made out with the seductive Maserati girl in a bar. You're wife found, but no harm no foul. Now you need to throw away her phone number and put her out of your mind. If you meet her in the mountains for the weekend, the marriage could be in jeopardy. I'm kidding . . . but not really.

My wife is being a great sport and has agreed to do a drive up to a winery in N. GA. next week. To her credit, she does think my "Maserati girl" is beautiful. So along the lines of your metaphor, I'm turning my make-out session into a menage a trois :D.

We're driving up to Blue Ridge tomorrow but today I got to spend a little one-on-one time with her. Bliss.

In the interest of warming up my family to a drive like that, we cruised up Hwy 52 from Dahlonega and then came back down through Suches - I'm sure this is the route because of the RX7s, M3s, and other cars we saw...what an amazing stretch of road. My wife was gushing over the scenery and my daughter was happy playing games on her iPod. I had a couple 'moments' of awesomeness but I tried to avoid inducing car sickness or fear in my passengers. What a great day! I'm going to be in tears when it sells.
