Does anyone know, or has anyone added any interior or exterior carbon fiber components to the maser? I've searched quite a bit to look for things such as Aero front lips, possible rear diffusers and side skirts.. I would also love to replace the steering wheel for one thicker perhaps made of Carbon Fiber like in the GS or the upcoming Corsa line GT.

Wish Jeff at FD could come up with some exterior and interior kits. Jeff, hope your reading buddy!

I've searched high and low and there is NOBODY out there that is putting out CF for our cars with the exception of paddle shifters. Sooooooo, I've done a lot of research and studying on the net to locate an outfit that will do custom (only a few are out there). Alternately, I'm seriously considering doing my own - starting out simple and working my way up to more complex parts as my skill improves.

For example, I was thinking of wrapping all the gray plastic engine shroud parts in CF with four or five layers of heat and fire resistant clear resin to make it pop. I'd also like to do a CF rear lip spoiler and some of the plastic parts in the interior like the horizontal strips on the door panels. Since I have a spyder, I've also thought about covering the rear deck/lid as well and matching the roll bars.

There are a couple of companies selling CF parts:

Dimex in Germany - http://dimex-group.com/home/katalog.html - from here you have to click on "Gesamtkatalog" for Maserati. Text is in German, but the pictures gives you an idea.

Eurospares sell CF covers for the roll-over hoops, the "under door moulding" and I think I've seen this alu-colored thing for the doors in CF also. These parts were /obviously/ standard parts that could have been ordered from factory...

Regarding the paddles, there are a couple out there but I still haven't found the ones I really like. Would be most grateful for any suggestions, though...

Wow, very interested in the one you linked to, but how on earth can o find out how much it is...and order it...without speaking german, really want the inside bits for the dash and a/c vents.

I know they ain't cheap... Upside of this country is that most folks speak english, suggest you shoot them a mail, then you also can get all the intricate details about shipping et.c.

...on a side note; what would make me nervous (driving a GS - where there already are some bits in CF) is that I might end up with a different weave, and that would look really bad...

source for parts

I have a very good source for parts in CF. Prices are much more reasonable than you'd expect but given an initial tooling charge, you really need to have a minimum of 10 people go in on the initial order.

If someone wants to head up the project, make a list of which parts, and how many people would be interested in each. I'll need a couple of detailed pictures of each part (top, bottom, front, back, etc) to get initial quote. For production, would need a donor piece that will unfortunatley be destroyed while producing the molds. From the time I get the parts until they're delivered back would probably be around 4-6 weeks.

For example, the door sills would probably be around $200 for the pair.

Wow, that would be awesome. How much experience do they have working with c.f., and do you have any links or pictures to any of their work?

it's all they do. They are a supplier to a few OE and aftermarket brands. They've done a few pieces for the RACECHAIRS store and the fit, finish, and quality is exactly what you'd expect. The resin is clear, although if you want a showroom finish, you'll need a clear coat over the parts (but that's true for any carbon fiber part). The resin is clear, smooth and the weave is cosmetically perfect on the outside. Any needed mounting mounts or brackets are built into the resin or inset threaded hardware.

I'd be interested in a group thing if we can get enough. Maybe if those that are interested chimed in on this thread, we could then start a new thread if we get >=10 folks. Then we could survey which parts people would be interested in....

I remember.....

I remember that survey and that list. I often wondered what was going on with it. The last thing I do recall was that Ali (BTW, haven't heard from him in a while) was doing a group buy on the spoilers and wanted to wait till we were done with that before he took on the survey CF parts. I would like to be a part of this goup buy!
