Last week I became the second owner of a 1999 3200GTA (4 speed auto)which has covered 11,000 miles. The car has a full Maranello/H R Owen history. So far I have covered about 400 miles and the car is awesome. My only slight concern is transmission noise at low speed. When driving gently at low speed (sub 40mph) I can hear a slight "groan" from the transmission as it shifts up. Also there is a slight whine on the over-run. Out of town, when you push the car harder, both these noises seem to disappear. I spoke to a Maranello Advisor about it and he did not seem too concerned, advising me to monitor it until it's service (next month). Has anyone else experience of this? Also with the engine running, the oil pressure guage is hard over to to the right on 5 Bar. I'm guessing the sensor is goosed. Any thoughts?

I've got a 4200, but I do have some experience with 3200's

Don't worry about the gearbox as it is essentially bulletproof (same unit as on the Ferrari 456) and can handle way more power!

The oilpressure guage sounds normal - howevewr with this being a more US based forum and therefore 4200 onward (3200 wasn't sold in US) for more specific 3200 questions try the forum on "Pistonheads.com"

Noise

I had a similar groan on my 4200CC. The dealer replaced the thrust bearing (on clutch) which was a known weakness and the noise disappeared. Mine has now been fine for about 12k miles although, oddly, it groaned again this morning - hey ho!
