Hey,

I'm looking at purchasing a used 2006 coupe GT Manual shift. I was wondering if you could ballpark annual costs to keep the car in tip top shape. Every car is different but just an idea would be great.

Do you need to take it to an authorized dealer?

Many people use $5K per year for maintenance costs. Repairs would be on top of that. However, the $5K/year figure amortizes clutch and tire replacements. It all depends on how much you drive the car. Drive more than 5K-10K miles per year and your costs would be higher.

Do you need to take it to an authorized dealer?
No. Some of the electronics require a specialized SD2 or SD3 computer loaded with Maserati software. Other than that, the cars are fairly straightforward. With that said, I would be very careful in selecting a shop.

Cost of maintenance

Hello,

I maintain the car as recommended by Maserati.

Once a year fluids change, and it is around $1000.00
Every 25k-35k, depends and your driving habits $4000.00 for a clutch.
Tires, one can get tires from under a $1000.00 for 4 and up to many$$$$.
It depends what your needs are.

Those cars are well built.
I have had few higher end cars. beside short life of the clutch, there is not much more upkeep expenses for this car than any other high end cars.
My car is a pure joy to drive. I use it as daily car, except of the days of the bad weather.
I hope this will help.

Michael.

That is my experience.... same as Michael.

I drive about 5,000 miles/year...... it sits for 4-5 months over the winter.

Not a daily driver but relatively frequently used when in service:autofahrer:

I have had my 05 GT coupe for just over a year now. I had 10k on car when it was delivered from Maine. The car now has 21k. I put a set of Verdistien tires on her based on the recommendations on the form. $750 shipped to my house. Install and aliegnent
from G2 in seatlle around $200. Insides of fronts were wearing out early so I wanted it correct to start. I added Larini boxes and X-pipe from Jeff From FD for about $2400 and did the intstall myself including a BMC air filter. At 17.5 I did the full service at Afla of Tacoma with Carlo. Did all the fluids etc at the bill was $800. I had a friend with Lexus
give me shit about the service cost. I said ask Lexus for a complete fluid change and tell me what the cost is. He did-$1100. I had the car detailed and 3 small digs removed two weeks ago. Was $800 and she looks like new and enjoyed her day at the spa like and pretty lady in your life would. I figure my clutch is good for at least 40 or 50k and it is way less costly then doing a CC car. F1 pump, special tool required and a dealer visit.
On the manual GT cars after 2004 there was very few issues. Yes I have heard of manual
cars clutches going out at 20K. Who was doing the driving is the big question. Find a real sorted out car with records and a good histiry and you will be fine.

Carlo who knows Ferrari's, Maserati's and Alfa's sent this upon seeing and driving my car.
" Ah a stick-very nice! Much less trouble then the CC and I can do your clutch when she needs one. That will be a long time from now as she only has 12k on her very nice. These motors are pretty bullet proof and with the cam chains your adjustment is at like 125k. These motors where designed to tour at 100 MPH all day long and here in America
you are barely working the motor 90% of the time. Drive her and enjoy I and i will take care of her for you."

She is in good hands. In second place as my all time favorite car I have ever owned. She just needs more time and longevity to take 1st place. For what I have into the car
she will always have a spot in the garage.

Give us details on the car!

Thanks everybody!

The car sold to somebody else this morning an hour before I submitted my offer! It was an '06 with 14k for 29,500 and she sold for $27,500. It was a beautiful Grey on Black with a 6spd MT. I feel like my pet minnow died.

Guess the search continues but I doubt I'll find a deal like that within a year!

Was that the sale in Miami by owner? I saw it for $32 and couldn't believe it. I too am on the lookout for a 2005-06 Coupe.
Preferably with Vintage package.

something doesn't seem right with a price-point like that. Especially if he dropped the tag from $32k down to $29,500 with a final settling price of $27,500.

those are extremely low miles for a 4y/o car......... so I'm guessing the clutch was still fine. the question becomes.... WHAT was wrong with it?

There had to be a story there. That price from a "private owner" caused my hesitation.
Did anyone on the Forum buy it?? Speak up if you did.

Sometimes its just a money problem..... car is well driven and maintained but the owner runs out of dough.

Sad but true

Maybe this is a case here...... always ask the reason for for selling and see if its believable.

A couple of thoughts on my that car sold for cheap...

1) It was a stripper. Not too many were made but "strippers" are bare bones cars with no options. They are all black and that "no options" rule even applies to the absense of the F1 transmission.

2) Black cars are very low key. While some people like that aspect, lots of buyers, especially in the lower price ranges, want something that will be noticed.

3) 6MT cars have a smaller market of buyers.
