So I reached out to a few distributors they don’t want to make them because it cost too much developing cost ! I might just make some myself … anybody is good with photoshop and make some ideas maybe if we develop or give them idea it will motivate them to produce!
I have a 3D print prototyping business, but don't know where to start to find a distributor to manufacture taillights. It'd be my first attempt at a mass-produced car part. I've been tempted to buy busted taillights and start experimenting. If anyone wants to collaborate or has busted tail lights let me know! If we come up with a working model we can propose them to the distributors you have.

its march now did they ever send pics?

also what else can we do to convince them of the taillight upgrade? like a group buy type of scenario for a commitment?

just seems odd to me that they've been able to create 3 or 4 different versions of the headunit, and the digital dash. which is very expensive and a lot of people online have bought.

But they are saying the taillights are harder to manufacture when it should require complex screens or programming and they already have a base framework of parts from the current aftermarket Ghibli/quatroporte/levante taillights they already make.
The taillights have to go through DOT regulations since they replace "safety equipment" (Turn signal lights, brake lights, etc). The cost goes up due to the certification. There's a lot less GT's vs the other models.

If I were in their situation, It'd be a group buy scenario for me to do it. Almost like a Kickstarter pledge. The problem as a buyer is you may not like the design when it's released.

I hope they do something. I'd love different styles on mine and even played with designing my own.

Also for your taillight design, while going a different direction could be interesting, I think there isn't a huge need to reinvent the wheel for it, I think the basic design of the gt taillights is good it just looks dated because of the diffusion lines in the lights based on how LEDs used to be diffused. I think the second generation of LED strips/bars are much more brighter which has removed the need to have all the diffusion/refraction lines in the housings. (this is similar to how headlights used to have all the cut off lines on the housings before HIDs came and were so bright that the diffusion lines in the housing weren't needed and now almost every headlight has a clear lense)
Just remaking the taillights with sharp lines LED bars would be the huge improvement like this.

And
This is the design I am trying to make. Keep the same shape and get the nicer diffused LED look. I've been hunting for busted lights to experiment with
