Big Foot suggested posting some pics here. Selection is a bit limited but I'll get some better ones next time I'm home and get it out of storage.

For the Cup Maserati took the Ghibli GT, swapped out the 2.8L engine for a more tuned 2.0L version that the Italians tend to prefer anyway, and took power up to 330bhp. The claim to fame at the time was that this represented the highest specific power (165bhp/litre) for a production car. Minor touches around the car and interior gave it a more sporty feel. It's an absolute hoot to drive. Unfortunately I don't believe it was ever available in the States although the odd racer might have been imported here.

Did you get a chance to take a ride in one? They're not nearly as refined as the coupes but they're great fun. I'll have to check out the biturbo section here and see what mods are being done to the Ghibli.
