Dear all,

Could somebody tell me what kind of coolant is being used in a '83 Biturbo 2.5L?
Some people tell me the pink version and some people tell me absolutely not, they choose for the green/blue version.

And just in case of emergency, is water ok, just for the time being?

Kind regards,
Johan

I have not worried about it. I used plain water until I realized how hot these puppies run; now I mix an available anti-freeze in.

I would use a coolant that’s designed for engines with aluminum block and heads. Don’t worry so much about the color. Personally I’m currently using Mercedes coolant just because I have it for my Mercedes (it’s blue). Also, make Sure to use distilled water to dilute to avoid mineral deposits and corrosion. I would not use water by itself ever, even if I lived in a warm climate. Good luck!
