Hi,
my 4200 CC (2002) with M138 has a new problem.

Yesterday i drove 8 km and engine died 5 meters in front of a parking lot.
Second attempt to start again worked and i drove the missing 5 meters. No engine fault lamp.

20 minutes later engine started normal and run normal.
No problems changing gears. But engine fault lamp displayed and one single CEL Code P0806.

Code P0806 = Clutch Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

Possible reasons:
  • Clutch Position Sensor (my sensor is not new)
  • Connector/Cabling (my connector was very clean last time i looked)
  • Clutch (my clutch is only 2 years old. Last reading 1 year ago less than 1% loss)
  • ....
I think i have found all threads with P0806. My questions:
  • Are there other reasons for P0806 ?
  • Somebody else with one single CEL Code P0806 and fixed it ?
  • Is P0806 really able to shut of a running engine or only able to prevent a new start ? (Like a faulty TDC-sensor can do both)
Regards
Paul

Today another situation:
  1. I deleted the CEL code
  2. Started engine and engine fault lamp on
  3. While engine running tried to read CEL code, but nothing. Not the expected P0806.
  4. Driven 5km and again tried to read CEL code, but nothing.
  5. I stopped the engine and 30 minutes later start again. Engine fault lamp off and stayed off the rest of the drive.
Maybe there is no problem with the sensor at all.
Can a sudden "engine off" cause the P0806 ? That would be the opposite of "...Is P0806 really able to shut off a running engine...".
