Greeting All,
I have just sold my Porsche 911 (993)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/220473.htm
as I fancy something a bit more civilized, with more storage.
I'm drawn towards a 4200.
I saw that the original handling was slated on TopGear -

Also the original paddle shift set up.
Paddle shift is not an issue as I will go for a manual gearbox, but handling is.
Almost all UK cars have the Skyhook system.
I understand that there was a suspension revision for the 03 cars.
Question, did it make a great deal of difference?
Is it simply a software revision?
Is it retro - installable?
How big is the boot (trunk)?
Thanks in advance.
I hope to be hanging around here a bit more......

I have an '02 Coupe GT (6 speed) with skyhook and no mods of any kind. Recently I spent a few hours chasing a few other Maser's around the local mountains here in southern California. The other cars were newer with factory upgrade (ie: GS's) or benefited from owner supplied suspension upgrades.
The TopGear concerns regarding the handling are quite true. The car is GREAT when compared to the norm. BUT - the best I could do with the other Maserati's was barely keep up. The car does get REAL squirley when pushed to it's limits. Since I consider myself a moderate driver, my version of spirited driving will not require me to mod my car's suspension.
You, on the other hand may want to get info on springs, etc. I understand that that simple upgrade can make a world of difference.

Some of the guys in that group were running our springs, they make a world of difference for sport driving. I've received calls from a few others who were looking at upgrading after seeing the difference. Sounds like it was a great drive though. The Viper Club holds some great drives now and then for their owners I'd love to see a train of Maserati's carving the canyons!

Sounds like the perfect intro - for me to say "I want to upgrade".

Actually, I am quite happy to keep the old '02 factory stock....
And, I don't mind following the pack when I'm on a drive.

My favorite feature in my Coupe; there are NO cup holders.....:D
