3D Printed iPhone Magsafe Holder

Just got a functional magnetic charging mount printed. I'm very much a beginner when it comes to 3d modeling and printing. This is still a bit of a work in progress.

Thought I'd throw this up here in case anyone has more advanced 3d modeling skills and would like to improve or modify this.

Took out the coin tray and 3d scanned the back of it with my phone and then added the support and mounting pad. There's a 3mm (16mm long) screw holding the charger to the 3d printed mounting pad. The charger is an OHLPRO wireless magnetic charger. Works with the MagSafe case on the iPhone 12.

Only blocks the temp screen and fan speed controls. Without the phone mounted they are still accessible.

I would create a design that does not cover up other controls. While I don't believe it's a charger, I think Weathertech makes a phone holder that uses the cup holder.
I used the Weathertech for a bit, it was ok.

When I download your STL from Thingiverse and load in Cura 3D, I get a very small object - 5.8 x 2.1 x 3.8 mm????? Something definitely isn't right.......

Oh that’s weird. When I load into Slic3r it asks about converting to inches I think. I’ll check. I’m still learning a lot about 3D scanning/modeling/printing. I think there may be a disconnect in the units between the scan, the modeling in Blender and then importing.
Yeah, the object is defined in inches so my slicer had to recalculate to millimeters. Are you able to have your tool recalibrate? If not I can try to adjust my model.

I uploaded recalculated files. They should open correctly now. You may need to sand/file down the arm that holds the phone a bit in order for it to slide into place. It fits really snug into the coin tray slot leaning against the hazard light frame.
That looks much better - I'll trying printing it this weekend - thanks!!

Awesome! Let me know if you have any issues or questions.
Printed the model this weekend using ESun PLA+. Other than some difficulty removing the support structures on the bottom, it was a straight-forward print. Some sanding and then painting with Plastidip and it turned out great. The fit is very snug and secure. Ordered the same MagSafe charger pad you recommended. I ran the USB cable into the dash in the gap between the center console and AC/stereo console and connected to the USB output of the AcarNavi system

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback! Glad it worked out! I had the same issues with the supports being difficult to remove.
I use this thing and stuck it on the gear indicator.
