Just got a functional magnetic charging mount printed. I'm very much a beginner when it comes to 3d modeling and printing. This is still a bit of a work in progress.

Thought I'd throw this up here in case anyone has more advanced 3d modeling skills and would like to improve or modify this.

Took out the coin tray and 3d scanned the back of it with my phone and then added the support and mounting pad. There's a 3mm (16mm long) screw holding the charger to the 3d printed mounting pad. The charger is an OHLPRO wireless magnetic charger. Works with the MagSafe case on the iPhone 12.

Only blocks the temp screen and fan speed controls. Without the phone mounted they are still accessible.

I love what you are doing here!
Just my two cents... I was thinking it might be easier to see/operate your phone if the mounted phone can face the driver instead of facing directly to the gearshift lever.
Also, what do you think about moving the stand closer to the side so the hazard button is not blocked by the stand? IMO I wouldn't mind having the temperature and direction buttons blocked on one side cuz you can change both sides with the MONO button. (I don't really change the temp that much either...)

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback! There not too much room to angle the phone towards the driver, though adjustments could probably be made to improve the angle. It’s not too much of an issue, at least for my purposes, since I’m mostly using CarPlay. I was primarily looking for a quick way to throw it on and off a charger.

It’s currently offset a bit to fit between the lock buttons and the hazard. The initial model was blocking the lock/unlock buttons a bit.

It probably could be modified to have a longer neck that raises it up and to the right while angling towards the driver.

I was literally looking at just getting a wireless charger for the GT. I usually just put the iPhone in a landscape mode that basically rests between the gearshift and the bottom of the HVAC controls. It's just a personal preference because there is smaller chance of the phone sliding forward as the magnets on these charges are not that strong. This way you are not really covering any buttons and the phone seems more accessible

Great idea though I will see if I can get this printed.

Now you're talking...can it be made lower as well? I usually just set mine down right there in that spot, sits nicely.

Nice. Does it actually "stick" to the mag-safe? I'm not familiar with those...
